Description

Join me this amazing adventure of snowshoeing in the scenic Soča Valley. You will spend a fun-filled day walking on powder snow and have an incredible time in Slovenia.

Soča Valley winds around the 138-kilometer long Soča river in Slovenia and is definitely is a spectacular place. The terrain is varied and there are so many possibilities for snowshoeing here. From magical valleys to white meadows to snowy plains to forest trails, there are so many landscapes to explore.

It is going to be a complete adventure and you’ll get to see the beautiful Trenta valley, the divine settlement at Log pod Mangartom and the stunning Sentvis plateau.

Keep in mind that the trip is suitable for everyone, so don’t forget to bring your kids along! It is an ideal family-sport which includes a guided snow walk for 2-4 hours. Even the elderly can join as it is a fairly easy program designed in such a way so as to not strain anyone. All you would need is a fit body and lots of enthusiasm!

We’ll begin the trip from one of these locations- Kobarit, Bovec, Kranjska gora, Bled or Ljubljana and thereafter, head towards the snowshoeing site. And the rest of the day will be full of adventure!

If you wish to explore other places, we can also head towards the surroundings of Kranjska gora, the lakes of the lower Bohinj mountains or walk through the forests of Sorica or Pokljuka.

I am the founder of the Gotrek Hiking Company, an outdoor adventure company that offers qualified and professional mountain guiding to domestic and foreign guests and tourists in Slovenia, Italy, Croatia and all over Europe. All climbing, training, trekking, hiking and snowshoeing tours are guided by CMGA certified (Croatian Mountain Guide Association) and UIMLA guide.

I live in Slovenia, a country where mountaineering is a way of life. My team of UIMLA and CMGA guides and instructors works and lives in Slovenia or Croatia. If I am not available to guide you, one of the experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

We organize mountain experiences in all seasons in the European Alps, the Dolomites, Carnic Alps the Slovenian Julian Alps, Triglav National Park, Kamnik - Savinja Alps and the territory of Croatia, Velebit, NP Paklenica, and the islands in the Adriatic sea.

We truly had an unforgettable snowshoeing tour with Dean! We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Even though my snowshoeing skills were not the best, he was very patient. He definitely has the skills and was incredibly knowledgeable. He made sure we stayed safe and kept a close eye on everyone. He was kind enough to take photos of us! You can tell he loves what he does. You will not be disappointed with Dean! As for the Explore-Share service website….it made the booking process and communication extremely easy. I emailed with questions first and within 24 hours I had a response and decided to book. All in all the whole experience was great!

We had a wonderful day today with Dean as our guide at the "Tre Cime". He was very patient with us (we're not particularly fast walking up a mountain), but we never felt pressured. He offered us some additional detour to give us an additional special view, but made clear that we would have to see first if the conditions were good enough for us to pass, as otherwise it would be too dangereous. We were lucky and were able to walk on, but on the "dangerous" icy passage over a cliff he walked under my wife making sure she was safe - overall, we felt that we were in very good hands with you, Dean, thank you very much!!

Dean is an excellent guide. He's friendly and conscientious and throughout or trip was focused on getting us to achieve our hiking goals while being aware of our abilities and experience. We chose a relatively tough hike (8hrs, 1,700m elevation gain) but Dean made sure we completed it safely and at a good pace. He also took photos throughout so we could concentrate on the hiking and shared them with us later. He was also good company on the hike. I would thoroughly recommend his services.

We were looking for a hike suitable for 4 adults with reasonable experience in hiking.Dean not only crafted a 5 day activity for us but was also able to adjust for routes to fit our needs during the hike itself. Dean proved to be a great guide with both knowledge and an amazing attitude and was simply so much fun to be with, Dean also went 'the extra mile' for us taking some of us to special activities which we did not plan for. Dean was prompt and super knowledgeable about the area we were going to. He guided us safely to Slemenova Spica to enjoy the Julian Alps. Dean is a super experienced guide, he is very qualified to do all sorts of mountineering too if you are interested to try. I had a good time learning how to do snow shoeing and he is very patient in teaching me and assessing my abilities to suggest different routes which is suitable for my build and stamina. It was great and safe to have him as a guide because he knows the terrain well and that is good to know.
