Description

The Haute Route via ski tour is one experience you do not want to miss. Come along with me on this adventure-packed 7-day ski tour. We’ll climb mountains, ski down pristine slopes and experience the natural beauty of the Alps.

The route covers 180km of breathtaking alpine scenery from glaciers to alpine meadows. This is a classic route that Mountaineers have been undertaking since the 19th century. On this trip, we’ll be completing it on our skis.

We’ll start out from Chamonix and tour for 7 days. On the way, we’ll pass mountains like the Rosa Blanche and Pigne d’Arolla. We’ll be up high the entire time, stopping to spend our nights in alpine huts. Our epic journey will end in Zermatt, Switzerland with awesome views of the iconic Matterhorn.

This route can be challenging in parts but the satisfaction you’ll get from completing it will outweigh any difficulty. Plus, the views of the dramatic mountainous terrain are second to none.

Don’t wait, request to book now and I can guarantee that you’ll enjoy the experience of a lifetime.

If you’re interested in a mountaineering trip that you can do in a day, you should definitely take a look at my one-day climb of Mont Blanc.

FAQs

When can the Haute Route be skied?

The main Haute Route ski season runs from mid-March to late April, when the mountain huts are open and the glaciers are safely snow-covered.

How many skiers can you take with you?

I'll take maximum 6 skiers with me. If you are more than that, I'll ask a colleague to come with us.

Where is the meeting point? When will we meet?

We'll meet in Chamonix the evening before the starting day. We will have an informal chat about the week ahead, weather, conditions, itinerary, etc. I will also want to check all of your equipment and make sure everything is in order.

How experienced do I need to be to ski La Haute Route?

La Haute Route and its variations are all physically and technically very demanding. This tour is for experienced skiers. You have to be in a very good physical condition, be confident, comfortable, and safe making every move in the mountain. For more information, please contact us after the booking. I'm taking care of booking in the huts.

What if the weather is bad or conditions are unfavorable? What are the alternatives to Haute Route if we wanted something different?

One option is to stay around the Chamonix area and embark on tours with a mix of overnight stays in huts and perhaps a night back in Chamonix. We can even explore different itineraries starting from the same hut, allowing us to stay for two nights before moving on to the next one, thus maximizing our exploration without venturing too far from the valley. This way, we won't require long transfers.

Another option is to undertake the Verbier-Zermatt route, which is the final portion of the classic Haute Route. In both options, we can easily incorporate some enjoyable day trips by starting from the lifts and venturing into the backcountry before returning to Chamonix, which would serve as an excellent warm-up.

Mountain Guide

I am an IFMGA mountain guide living in Cyprus. I have a passion for exploring the mountains since I was child. Kyperounda, the town where I was born and raised, was my first playground, the place where I started practising different outdoor activities.

First I learnt skiing. Then, I started training and taking part in races and competitions, traveling extensively in Europe. As I am very curious, I kept trying all kinds of sports until I discovered climbing and all its exciting possibilities.

I also developed both my academic and my practical skills in the university, where I studied Outdoor Studies and Sport Science. During that time, I obtained qualifications as a Mountain Leader and a Climber.

Teaching other people is one of the things I like the most. I find a deep joy in helping others to enjoy the mountains as much as I do.

The experience of all these years as well as my technical skills, have taken me closer to my goal: becoming an IFMGA mountain guide.

Kyriakos Rossidis is a fantastic touring and skiing guide. Our safety and well-being was his top concern. Extremely competent and helpful with equipment and all arrangements with huts, etc. Also great company — low-key, friendly, sense of humor. Could not ask for a better guide.
