This spectacular day tour starts off in Port of Spain, where you’ll be picked up at your hotel. We’ll embark on the 1.5 hour drive to Mount Tamana, but it won’t be a boring car ride. Passing from eastern to central Trinidad, you’ll see pretty pastoral scenery as well as lowland forests.
Upon arriving at Mount Tamana, your guide will explain its unique geologic history. Over 1,000 feet tall, the mountain is composed mostly of ancient reefs. Now the cave systems, carved out by running water, are home to many creatures, including millions of bats.
Entering the first chamber of the cave, we’ll get a close-up view of these amazing animals. Those who wish to can squeeze through the small hole that leads to the rest of the cave system to discover more bats and other critters, such as geckos.
As the sun sets, we’ll stand at the cave’s entrance and feel the wind of the bats flapping their wings as thousands of them stream past us. It’s a thrilling and unique experience.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
