Home of modern skiing
The act of skiing dates back centuries, yet the modern, sporting version is relatively new, dating back to the 19th century. The village was the birthplace of Hannes Schneider, considered to be the father of modern skiing, who took his abilities and developed the basics of ski instruction, which he used to open up his own school. Skiing in St. Anton means skiing among heritage.
Stacks of snow
The mountains around St. Anton am Arlberg offer some of the best snow in the Alps and receives some of the most snow. It boasts 340 kilometres of slopes, 200 kilometres of off-piste area. When winter arrives and temperatures plummet, the cold months bring plenty of flurries of snowfall. Arlberg is famously beautiful and incredibly reliable for snow, forming stunning deep-snow runs.
Easy alpine access
Located in the west of Austria, St. Anton am Arlberg sits at the core of the Alps. Mountains dominate the skyline and hold some of the most picturesque mountain scenery in the entire Alps. And the wild backcountry of Austria is extremely well connected, being 2-3 hours away from international airports, making access to the deep snow slopes of St. Anton very easy.
