While it may lack the name recognition of Chamonix, LA Clusaz certainly does not lack any bona fides for its backcountry skiing experiences.
Among the favourite spots for backcountry skiers to head are La Combe de Balme, Torchère, Bellachat. Each of these offer some excellent excellent intermediate-level runs and are plenty to keep even the most avid skier occupied for a weekend.
For those seeking out a bit more of a challenge then heading to the mountains around Grand Massif is a great way to hone and test out your skills.
When you are not out on the slopes, be sure to spend some time enjoying La Clusaz, which is well-known for its delicious and locally produced cured meats, cheese and wine.
During the winter in La Clusaz, the average daily temperature ranges from -4 ºC to 0 ºC. This increases slightly during the spring and decreases the higher in elevation you go. The area receives plenty of snowfall during the winter.
Any trip to La Clusaz likely begins with a flight into the Geneva International Airport (GVA). From here, La Clusaz is just over an hour away by car and easily accessed by bus.
