Beschreibung

    IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide from Bolivia.

I organize mountaineering and trekking trips in different regions of Bolivia, and community tourism as well. I spend my free time exploring new destinations and discovering new mountains and cultures in remote regions.

I have more than 20 years of experience working in Cordillera Real, and I live in Tuni, Condoriri. I worked as mule driver, porter, cook, trekking guide assistant, trekking guide, and finally became IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide in 2008.

I made several ascents in Bolivia and neighboring countries like Argentina, Chile and Peru. Some of them: Ojos de Salado, Wallatiri, Urus, Azangate, Huayna potosí, Illimani, Chir oco, Chachacomani, Sajama, Illamapu, Acohoma, Chapi orco, Acotango, Parinacota… These experiences prepared me to organize and guide expeditions.

I like to provide a top level service to people from all around the world, help them get in contact with the local culture, and of course help them reach their objectives in the mountains.

The objective for the three of us from South Africa was to summit Nevado Sajama. Unfortunately, this was not to be due to adverse weather conditions on summit day. Our guide was Jaime Quispe Mamani, and we cannot speak highly enough about him. Not only is he a competent climber, but he went to great lengths to ensure that we were looked after in every way. Nothing was too much trouble. Jaime’s cooking skills were truly a highlight of our climb. His ability to create excellent dishes in the mountains was impressive and greatly appreciated. Beyond his professional skills, Jaime is just an all-around nice guy. His positive attitude, encouragement, and genuine kindness enhanced our experience significantly. His expertise, organizational skills and friendly demeanour made all the difference. In summary, while we may not have reached the summit this time, we left with unforgettable memories, largely due to Jaime’s exceptional guidance and hospitality. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a mountain guide who is not only skilled but also a joy to be around.

Jaime is a fantastic guide! Rest assured that he’ll take care of you. He was perfectly organized and brought all necessities along the way (obviously except for your personal stuff according to the packing list). No matter where we stayed (in a tent or a refugio), he and his nephew showed off their impressive cooking skills and would make steak with french fries magically appear, even at 4700m! Thanks to fresh fruits & french toast for breakfast, and even some pasta dishes for lunch on the top of a mountain, this trip really felt like a luxurious hiking adventure. Due to a large other group that had a similar itinerary, we agreed to change the schedule slightly to make our experience better, which meant that we stayed one more night at the little hotel / bed&breakfast that his family is running before heading to Huayna Potosi. I think this is the only part that could have been better by adding another summit given that we were able to do cover more kilometers per day than initially planned. Overall, I felt very safe despite Huayna Potosi being my first proper mountaineering experience. He’s very fluent in French and speaking English well enough to have some high-level conversations, provide safety instructions, and tell you about Bolivia & his life

Jaime was a professional but down to earth and always made sure everything was ok and taken care of with the support of his lovely family. This led to an awesome trip, and I can't wait to go back and do more 6000 meters with Jaime. 5/5 guide, trip, and experience. Would hugely recommend for your first 6000m!
