**If you’ve been dreaming of ice climbing in an exotic location, then you’re in luck. The Tatras Mountains of Poland and Slovakia have some of the best ice climbing options in the world and all with amazing vistas to enjoy!**

Located at the border between Southern Poland and Northern Slovakia, the beautiful Tatra Mountain Range is the tallest sub-range within the greater Carpathians Mountains.

What the Tatras lack in size, **they make up for in beauty and climbing** quality. A horizon dotted with peaks, blue lakes and dense alpine forests, this landscape does not disappoint!

Winter climbing and mountaineering is what the Tatra Mountains are famous for. **This is the range that forged the careers of some of the best Polish, Slovak and Czech alpinists and Himalayan climbers** before they turned to climb new routes in the Alps and started to conquer Asian 8000m+ peaks via new routes and in winter conditions.

Not very high, not very wide, the **Tatra Mountains are the Alps in miniature**: sharp ridges and pointy peaks, easy access but with really wild valleys, big walls and short but interesting winter crags, ice climbing and dry-tooling. You have everything here!

The Tatras also have something remarkable that no other mountain ranges has. **Frozen grass climbing is the** _**specialité de la maison**_! Typical Tatra mixed climbing consist of a bit of everything – some ice, some rock, snow and steep frozen grass above all. You haven’t you tried it yet? I will be happy to show you.

No matter whether you prefer short but hard winter activities or long alpine mountaineering, the Tatras will have something to offer you. Ice climbing spots both in Poland and Slovakia (from 20 to more than 100 meters); small and medium walls on Granaty, Kościelec and Świnica on the Polish side; big alpine routes on Mały Kieżmarski Szczyt, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt, Szatan, Wysoka, Niżne Rysy and much more.

1+ day Winter mountaineering and ice climbing in the High Tatras

Join me for a great **ice climbing tour of 1 or more days** in the beautiful High Tatras mountain range in Poland. These tours are **suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced climbers.**

Starting from the **city of Zakopane**, I will take you to enjoy amazing ice climbing in the High Tatras. Zakopane is located in the extreme south of the country, at the foot of the High Tatras, **near the border with Slovakia.**

Ice climbing in this area is ideal for beginners and for intermediate level climbers. It offers an easy approach and short falls. However, there are also several great spots with **multi pitch routes for experienced climbers.**

I take up to 4 beginner level climbers in each tour, 2 for intermediate level, and I will take only 1 climber for an advanced level ice climbing tour.

The adventure starts the minute we start walking to the ice falls, with beautiful nature and wilderness and breathtaking views! Ice climbing in the High Tatras is truly unique. We can climb the same line several times, but every time we climb will be different, and that’s one of the things I enjoy the most about ice climbing.

Besides, **the views in the Tatras, in its open valleys, are truly amazing.** Ice climbing usually takes place in closed valleys, so the views we have here are quite unique, and so beautiful!

I will take to discover some wonderful ice climbing spots in the area. The one I enjoy the most is near the Morse Oko mountain hut, by the lake. It has **150m routes, with 2 main couloirs, ideal for multi pitch climbing**.

On the approach to this valley (10 km), we find the **White Water Valley, with about** 10 ice lines**.** We can also mix it with some nice **goulottes climbing.** Other spots that I like include **Dolina Wielicka, Dolina Białej Wody and Dolina Staroleśna.**

Even when the avalanche risk level is high, **I can take you to several spots where we can climb safely.** 

If you want to join me on a tour for several days, we can either stay in the Morse Oko Hut or we can be based in Zakopane and move every day to a different spot. Bear in mind we can also approach the ice fall with our skis.

This stunning mountain range is found at the border between Southern Poland and Northern Slovakia. The Tatras are the tallest sub-range within the greater Carpathians Mountains. Mount Gerlach is the peak that rises above the rest and it stretches up 2,655m above sea level.

Aside from Gerlach, there are 14 peaks over 2,400m so you will be spoilt for choice. These are; Lomnica, Lodowy Szczyt, Durny Szczyt, Wysoka, Kieżmarski, Kończysta, Baranie Rogi, Rysy, Krywań, Staroleśny, Ganek, Sławkowski and Pośrednia Grań.

They vary in their difficulty with some being easy and others such as Durny or Pośrednia Grań being much harder.

**I can cater this trip to meet your needs, abilities and experience. If you’re short on experience then I suggest 1-2 days spent on mountaineering techniques (Ice axe, Crampons etc.) and some avalanche awareness.**

**Once we’re ready to go, we can spend as many days as you would like ascending the different mountain peaks!**

Will we select the summits based on your physical fitness, experience, technical abilities and the weather conditions in the moment.
