Description

If you’ve been dreaming of ice climbing in an exotic location, then you’re in luck. The Tatras Mountains of Poland and Slovakia have some of the best ice climbing options in the world and all with amazing vistas to enjoy!

Located at the border between Southern Poland and Northern Slovakia, the beautiful Tatra Mountain Range is the tallest sub-range within the greater Carpathians Mountains.

What the Tatras lack in size, they make up for in beauty and climbing quality. A horizon dotted with peaks, blue lakes and dense alpine forests, this landscape does not disappoint!

Winter climbing and mountaineering is what the Tatra Mountains are famous for. This is the range that forged the careers of some of the best Polish, Slovak and Czech alpinists and Himalayan climbers before they turned to climb new routes in the Alps and started to conquer Asian 8000m+ peaks via new routes and in winter conditions.

Not very high, not very wide, the Tatra Mountains are the Alps in miniature: sharp ridges and pointy peaks, easy access but with really wild valleys, big walls and short but interesting winter crags, ice climbing and dry-tooling. You have everything here!

The Tatras also have something remarkable that no other mountain ranges has. Frozen grass climbing is the specialité de la maison! Typical Tatra mixed climbing consist of a bit of everything – some ice, some rock, snow and steep frozen grass above all. You haven’t you tried it yet? I will be happy to show you.

No matter whether you prefer short but hard winter activities or long alpine mountaineering, the Tatras will have something to offer you. Ice climbing spots both in Poland and Slovakia (from 20 to more than 100 meters); small and medium walls on Granaty, Kościelec and Świnica on the Polish side; big alpine routes on Mały Kieżmarski Szczyt, Mięguszowiecki Szczyt, Szatan, Wysoka, Niżne Rysy and much more.

Whether you are relatively new to climbing or a veteran on the rock face, there are endless fantastic options available here!

I operate in small groups of 2 people so that we can optimise our experience together and so that I can keep safety a top priority.

Don’t miss out on the chance to explore some of the best ice climbing and winter mountaineering on offer – not to mention try some unique frozen grass climbing. Sign up now and I’ll be waiting to share this unforgettable experience with you!

Mountain Guide

I started my adventure with climbing in the early nineties. Through almost three decades, I have managed to reach hundreds of peaks and climb an uncountable numbers of routes all around the world. In Patagonia I climbed both Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy (and some more), I set up new routes in Karakoram climbing an unconquered peak there. I have enjoyed many climbs in Alaska, the Alps and the Dolomites, both in winter and summer. Still, the Polish Tatras hold a special place in my heart as these are the mountains that carved my climbing attitude and character. Winter is my favourite season there – wilderness and the alpine character of the mountains can deliver unforgettable experiences.

Mountain lovers can find a full variety of different challenges in Tatras – solemn granite peaks, demanding big-walls, interesting mixed-climbing, great off-piste areas and wild valleys waiting for ski touring fans. Although I have travelled the world in search of beautiful goals, I have been constantly coming back to fulfil my mountain passions in Tatras. And I am sure there is still so much more to be discovered there.

As an IFMGA guide and a seasoned climber, I invite you to discover mountains with me. Decades of exploration in that mountains have led me to who I am today – a professional mountain guide ready to share my mountain experience with you in Tatras or any other part of the mountain world.

Whether you want to climb a peak or ridge, ski off-piste or discover new places - I am here to help you make your dream come true. My point as a guide is to get you to safely fulfil your mountain dream. If you don’t have any yet – don’t worry, with my experience and your skills we will definitely find a suitable adventure for you!

I am an IFMGA/IVBV/UIAGM certified mountain guide and a member of Polish Association of High-mountain Guides.

Jakub was an excellent guide. I told him of my experience and he chose a perfect route. Demanding but fun and manageable. He also gave me a great history of the route and a wealth of information about the area.

Jakub was an excellent host and guide. He planned multiple routes each day to allow for any changes within the weather and conditions and provided a plethora of information regarding the Tatras, climbing and Polish culture to make the trip an immersive experience. Given Jakubs extensive climbing experience and as a climber myself, I learned a lot within the 3 days. Whether a complete novice or someone with experience Jakub tailors each trip to your experience and I would highly recommend his guiding services, and personally will be using Jakub to fulfil future climbing goals myself.
