Description

Slovakia offers beautiful natural settings to practice ice climbing. In particular, we will climb in the High Tatras National Park and in the Slovak Paradise.

Ice climbing is a unique activity. Each season a new playground is formed, and you never know how it's going to turn out! Indeed, this ephemeral practice is great for rock climbers that want to try something new.

We can leave for 2 or 3 days. Depending on the amount of participants and their level, I will design an itinerary. In general, I can take up to 4 people with me. But for more technically challenging climbs I guide only up to 2 people. This pleasant winter sport is open to everyone who likes nature and climbing.

And if you have more ice climbing experience, I also offer multi-pitch ice climbing. This trip also takes 2-3 days.

Another winter activity that I love to guide is this Ice Peak High Tatras ascent, check it out!

Do you find this trip tempting? Then please contact me for more information! Let's discover this wonderful frozen vertical world together, in the magical Slovakian landscapes.

Mountain Guide

I was born in Poprad and I live, work and relax in the High Tatras. I have been climbing in this region for 15 years both in summer and winter.
Since 2001 I am a professional rescuer with a completed Bachelor education in Urgent Medical Care. Furthermore, I work in The Experts Mountain Rescue Service (in High Tatras) as an avalanche specialist.
In 2009, after passing the entrance examination for mountain guiding, I started the roundabout course. In April 2010, I became a mountain guide aspirant in the National Association of Mountain Guides of the Slovak Republic.
In 2011, during the final course in Chamonix - Mont Blanc (France) I successfully completed the course of mountain guide during four days of tests, under the strict supervision of Technical Commission NAHVSR instructors. Since then, I am a mountain guide with the IFMGA / UIAGM international license.
Thanks to this job (and hobby) I am pleased to expand the horizons of my clients and share with them my knowledge and experience as a mountain guide.

We spent 2 days with Pavol as he introduced us to ice climbing. Upon meeting him, we were pleased with his professionalism and his impressive experiences climbing around the world. It didn't take long for us to realise his expertise on the mountain, as well as his passion and down to earth attitude. Over 2 days, in 2 different locations, we got learn the basics of ice climbing on some serious ice falls. He gave us advice on techniques and strategies to get us climbing higher and more efficiently. The whole time Pavol made us feel very safe and in control, as daunting as ice climbing may be. In the end we had a great time and learnt a lot, and he left us hungry for more. He definitely showed us this is a sport and passion we can keep following. We hope to climb with Pavol again next time we visit Europe.
