**The Yatsugatake mountains are a group of peaks on the border between Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures. Mt Akadake (2,899 m) is the highest of them.**

I invite you to join me on a 2-day winter alpine climbing trip to the summit of Mt Akadake by its **normal route.** This route is ideal for beginners and it's a great introduction to winter mountaineering.

We'll meet at **JR Chino Station** and I'll drive you to the trailhead where our itinerary begins.

The route has **exposed sections with fixed chains and ladders.** However, there's nothing to worry: you will be roped up with me so you can climb with confidence.

From the top, you'll enjoy a stunning view of Mount Fuji and the Japanese Southern alps.

I recommend you to join this trip between the second week of December and the end of March. It's also possible to go there in April and May. However, we won't have a winter condition by that time.

**Mt Akadake (2,899 m) is the highest peak in the Yatsugatake mountains and a great destination to get started on winter alpine climbing.**

This 2-day climbing trip is ideal for you if you already have some experience in the mountains and rock climbing and would like to learn the basics on winter mountaineering.

The starting point of our trip will be **JR Chino station**. I'll pick you up there and I'll drive you to the beginning of our trail.

We'll take **Mt Akadake's main ridge,** which is the most forgiving out of all the 'variation routes' (non-normal routes) you can find on this peak. Besides, it's also the most direct route to the summit.

The best time to join this trip is between the second week of December and the end of March. We can also go there in April or May, but we won't have winter conditions by that time.
