Peak Kommunizma is officially one of the five 'Snow Leopard' mountains, designated to the five highest peaks in the former Soviet Union, and is indeed the highest mountain in Tajikistan. It's impressive height (7495m), difficulty to reach and hostile terrain and conditions make it a physical and mental challenge, proving alluring to experience mountain climbers. The fact that it is only possible to climb for 2 months of the year adds to its mystery.
