Located on the island of Lombok, Mount Rinjani is an active volcano worth exploring. Join us, as we take you to the peak of this stunning mountain in Indonesia.
The trip is an excellent mix of leisure and adventure. The trail offers beautiful views of the grand savannah. You will witness a beautiful sunrise and an awe-inspiring sunset during these 2 days. The route further leads to Lake Segara Anak which lies within the volcano’s crater, a sight no less than magic.
This trip is suitable for beginners and seasoned hikers alike. As long as you fit and used to long walks, you should be just fine!
We’ll begin in Senaru. After an early breakfast, we’ll drive to Sembalun village. Once there, we’ll get ourselves registered and set on our trek. It takes about 2-hours to reach the first stop of POS 1 Pos Pemantauan (1,300 m). You’ll enjoy spectacular views all along. Continuing further, we’ll cross POS 2 Pos Tengengean (1,500m) and POS 3 Pada Balong (1,800m) to finally reach Plawangan Sembalun Crater Rim just in time to see a striking sunset. You’ll spend the night in this picturesque setting.
The following day, we’ll start early at about 3 am and set towards the summit of Rinjani (3,726m). A good hike of about 3-4 hours takes you there to see one of the most beautiful sunrises you are ever likely to see. The top offers outstanding views of Lombok, Bali and Lake Segara Anak.
Later, we’ll descend to the base camp and follow the same trail to return to Senaru to end this incredible trip.

Day 1: From Senaru to Plawangan Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m)
We’ll drive you to Sembalun village after an early breakfast. Here, we’ll get ourselves registered at Rinjani Information Center and begin our trek towards POS 1 Pos Pemantauan. A 3-hour hike takes us there. After resting for about 15 mins, we’ll continue towards POS 2 Pos Tengengean and further to POS 3 Pada Balong. We’ll reach the campsite at Plawangan Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m) by evening.
Day 2: Summit hike!
We’ll leave quite early at about 3 Am towards the summit of Rinjani ( 3,726m ). It will take about 3-4 hours to get there. After witnessing a stunning sunrise from the summit, we’ll get back to the base camp and further descend to Sembalun village to end this trip.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
