Located on the island of Lombok, Mount Rinjani is the second-highest mountain in Indonesia. The peak of this active volcano stands tall at 3,726m and offers impressive vistas of the ocean and the neighbouring peaks of Bali and Sumba. Join us as we take you on an interesting hike to see the Senaru Crater Rim on this mountain giant.
It will be an excellent 2-day trip. Our journey will begin and end in Senaru village(601m). On the first day, we will start early and after registering at the Rinjani Trek Centre, set on our journey towards the crater rim.
The initial trail leads through a lush tropical forest. We will cross Pos 1 and Pos 2 until we reach Pos 3 for a lunch break. You will definitely see stunning views all along.
From there, we will continue towards the Senaru crater rim. As we will rise, the forest will give way to a beautiful grassland. The final hike will be a bit steep but we would reach just in time to see a spectacular sunset. The yellowish-orange of the fading sun against the soaring peaks is one sight that will be unforgettable!
The top unfolds unobstructed views of Mount Agung, the Gili Islands, and Lake Segara Anak. You will also be able to see the peak of Mount Rinjani and Gunung Baru.
Next day, after witnessing an exceptional sunrise, we will set on our return journey. Taking breaks whenever required, we will arrive at Senaru by about 1 pm. You sure will reflect on this amazing journey as we transport you to your nearby destination.
The trip is a bit challenging but at the same time, it is incredibly thrilling. And as long as you are in good shape, you should be just fine!

Day 1: Hike from Senaru village to Senaru Crater Rim
After an early breakfast, we will register at the Rinjani Trek Centre in Senaru (601 m). The trail initially passes through a dense tropical forest. We will head towards Pos 1 and Pos 2 to finally reach Pos 3 (2,000 m) for lunch.
After lunch, we will continue towards the crater rim. As we’ll climb, the forest will be replaced by beautiful grasslands and the trail becomes increasingly steep. We’ll camp at Senaru Crater Rim (2,641 m) and see an amazing sunset. Mount Agung in Bali, the Gili Islands, the summit of Mount Rinjani, Lake Segara Anak and Gunung Baru will be clearly visible from the top.
Day 2: Head back to Senaru village
After enjoying a beautiful sunrise, we’ll begin on our return journey to Senaru. We will stop at Pos 2 for lunch and arrive in Senaru by 1 pm. Finally, you will be transported to your nearby destination to end this amazing trip.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
