Also known as the Desert of Solitude, it stretches from the state of Chiapas in Mexico to Honduras, covering part of the Yucatán Peninsula. Its heart lies at the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas, bordering Guatemala. Despite the damage it has suffered over the years, it remains as the largest montane rainforest in North America.
Furthermore, not only it is home of many endangered and majestic species such as the jaguar, it also hosts many important Mayan archaeological ruins. Some of the most important ones are Palenque, Yaxchilan and Bonampak. But, we should keep our eyes open as there are still smaller sites partially or completely unexcavated. So you’ll feel like a true explorer wondering in the unknown, discovering sites that perhaps had never seen before.
Two days might not seem enough to explore this paradise. However, one of our expert guides will take you to its most important sites. For instance, you’ll get the chance to navigate at Río Lacajá (class III- rafting). Also, you’ll hike through the Ciudad Perdida, or Lost City, along with Bonampak, famous mayan archaeological sites, and visit the Ocosingo community. You’ll be able to see and refresh at the Corcho Negro waterfalls. And you’ll live an unforgettable night, camping under a dazzling bed of stars and surrounded by the relaxing sounds of the jungle.
If this multi-sports adventure sounds appealing to you, don’t miss the chance to live it! Send us a request and let one of our expert guides show you this incredible place.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
