2-day Val d’Aran introductory alpine course

Come join Jon, an IFMGA certified guide, on this 2-day Val d'Aran introductory alpine course. You'll learn the essentials to get out to the mountain safely!

Fitness LevelOccasional
Type of tripNot specified

This Val d’Aran introductory alpine course will give you the knowledge to move safely and independently on backcountry terran.

I’ll teach you how to properly use your alpine tools to progress safely on the mountain. Moreover, you’ll learn how to get to know the mountain by paying attention to different factors. So you’ll end up enjoying whatever condition the mountain presents to you. Please note that this course can only be taught in Spanish.

Indeed, my main objective is for you to see the mountain in a totally different way than a casual hiker would. But first we’ll start by the beginning: how to dress, eat and drink for alpine mountaineering.

Then I’ll show you the technical gear, how to use it and take care of it. Also a very important part of the course will be to understand the mountain and its features.

After that we’ll step into more technical matters. First, I’ll show you how to analyze the snow conditions and how to use a transceiver in case of avalanches. Then, we’ll go over some basic ice-axe and crampons progression techniques. Finally I’ll also show you basic rope and anchor techniques, knots and abseiling techniques.

So it will be an intense two-day course, where we’ll be out during 8 hours a day, learning and practicing all this stuff.

So please don’t hesitate to contact me for this 2-day Val d’Aran introductory alpine course. And specify all your requests so I can get everything ready for you.

And if you’d like to check out some of my other shorter programs, please take a look at my Carros de Foc guided trekking tour or my Midi d’Ossau rock climbing program.
