4-day Mountain biking tour in Sredna Gora, Bulgaria

Are you ready for a mountain biking adventure in the Bulgarian mountains? Join me on this unique 4-day journey in Sredna Gora. We will visit scenic rural areas and ancient Thracian temples and tombs.

This tour is part mountain biking adventure and part guided tour of cultural sites. We will begin our journey in the enchanting town of Koprivshtitsa. Here, we will have a pleasant, fresh climate for biking. We will bike along, passing the beautifully painted historical houses of the town.

During this tour we will visit the Thracian Temple Complex. This complex is a recent discovery, having been discovered by archaeologists in 2000. It is the oldest known royal Thracian complex with a mausoleum. It dates back to the end of 5th and the beginning of 4th century BC.

We will travel off-the-beaten-path as we ride through the Thracian mounds. We will bike through fields of corn, wheat and strawberries. We will bike through a secluded area where we will see some local farmers as they tend to their land.

We will also visit the town of Hisaria, where we can swim in one of the many mineral water swimming pools in town. This is a unique town full of ancient history. Hisaria had a prehistoric settlement before 6th century B.C. It later became a Thracian settlement in the Odryss state. We will be able to learn lots of ancient history and also relax in the mineral water pools, many of which were developed thousands of years ago as healing centers.

This tour features a visit to Plovdiv, which is the second biggest city in Bulgaria. We will do a walking tour through the narrow lanes of the old town. We will see religious temples, roman remnants and museum-houses. Later, we will transfer to the capital city Sofia. Here, we will do another walking tour where we will see all of the beautiful sights this ancient city has to offer.
