Description

There are few outdoor activities that match the thrills and sheer adventure of ice climbing. That is why I am glad to offer this thorough and comprehensive 5-day ice fall climbing course near Santiago, Chile.

The goal of this course is to provide participants with many of the tools necessary to ensure safe and successful ice climbing.

The course will consist of 5 consecutive field days. Thus giving you ample time to put every lesson learned into immediate practice on the ice falls of the Andes, near Santiago.

Some of what will be covered during this course includes the following.

Technical and security team
How to properly use ice climbing equipment, including carabiners, ice axes, rope, braking devise, screws etc.
Natural anchors
Ice bridges
How to properly descend by controlled rope
Various climbing techniques

In order to participate on this trip, you should be in good physical condition. You should also have participated in a basic mountain course and a specific one that involves rope management.

Ice climbing is a fantastic winter activity. It can be done anywhere in the world, as long as there is ice. Thus providing ice climbers with a limitless array of options that can span from the very easy to extremely challenging. As a result of that variety, it is important to learn the basics, so you can expand your choices.

For more than 20 years I have worked as a guide in Chile. Join me and I´ll be able to show you the wonderful spots that the Andes offer to those who share my passion for big mountains.

I live in Santiago de Chile, the Chilean capital, where there are many options for high altitude ascents, even over 6,000 meters, in close proximity to the city. I also regularly organize trips to the Chilean Altiplano, where there are many mountains over 6000 meters. However, the main attraction of these trips is to witness the intensity and loneliness of the Atacama Desert.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
