Description
There are not many peaks in Sweden that exceed 2,000 meters in height. However, in northern Sweden, in the lapland region, stands the magnificent Ahkka massif (2,016m).
Ahkka consists of eleven summits. The highest summit is Stortoppen (2,016m), which is the 8th highest summit in Sweden. Other popular summits in the massif include the following.
Nordosttoppen (2,010m)
Borgtoppen (1,963m)
Dubbeltoppen (1,830m)
Vasttopparna (1,730m)
Majtoppen (1,628m)
Also known as the Queen of Lapland, Ahkka is a hugely revered peak in Sapmi folklore. Thus giving the mountain a mystique and ancient significance that is not lost on anybody who visits it.
A great climb, the views you will get of the nearby glaciers and forests, as well as the spectacular Akkajaure lake, only get better the higher up you go. Furthermore, the area surrounding the mountain, within the Stora Sjofallet national park, is full of gorgeous, and untouched, wilderness. You will feel like you are in a world a million miles away from any building, car or highway. Hence giving you a truly natural experience that we know you will never forget.
While not an enormous peak when compared to other mountains in the world, Ahkka does nonetheless pose some difficult spots. As a result, participants on this trip should be in good physical condition. Prior mountaineering experience is also very beneficial as well.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
