Bansko is the most modern and largest ski resort in all of Bulgaria. The lifts are new, and the hotels in the area are lovely. However, when compared to the much larger ski resorts that can found throughout the Alps, Bansko is actually not that enormous. We believe this is an advantage, as it makes the resort seem more accessible and less hectic than it's larger counterparts.
Another great thing about Bansko is it provides visitors with some truly amazing views of the surrounding landscape. Within the resort area you will be able to see several of Bulgaria's beautiful mountain ranges. They include the Rhodopes, the Rila mountains and the Pirin mountains.
When it comes to the off-piste runs, the popularity in Bansko is still on the way up. Thus giving new visitors looking for some great freeride skiing a great opportunity. The reason for that is because after a snowfall, from which there is many in the winter season, huge portions of the off-piste snow often remains untouched for several days!
The areas from which you can ski off-piste are all within the Pirin national park. The area is beautiful and has wonderfully varied terrain. There are pine forests, shallow or steep slopes, and wide open areas. However, there are risks of avalanches and even getting lost. Hence why having the assistance of an expert guide is so important.
So come to Bansko, and let us properly and safely guide you on a day of excellent free ride skiing. We know you will have a great time. All you have to do is send us a request.
Are you looking for a different kind of winter experience in the mountains of Bulgaria? If so, we can also lead you on this 2 day hike to the top of Mount Musala, which is the highest mountain in the country!

A great trip! Definitely more challenging than we expected, especially given the conditions during our trip, so make sure you're a confident winter hiker. But our guide Nelly was excellent at helping us navigate the mountains and keeping us safe. The highlight for us was visiting the Ivan Vazov hut - a truly magical place in deep winter and with extremely friendly staff! Would recommend for those looking for an adventure.

Lyuben was a very friendly and competent guide. We unfortunately had to change our tour completely due to excessive winds as the 7 Lakes chairlift was closed. We hiked instead up the mountain and Lyuben did a nice job of navigating us on snowshoes through attractive snowy routes in the forest as the snow level improved. The wind was too harsh without visibility once we got up to the top so unfortunately it was not safe (and it would have been miserable) to attempt hiking further within the 7 Lakes region. As an alternative, Lyuben offered to take us on a snowshoe tour to visit a frozen waterfall before heading back down. He also refunded the money that would have been used for the chairlift. Before starting the trip, he was proactive and helpful with his communication. We appreciate it also that he modified the price given that we were already in the region and did not need transport to/from Sophia.
