I am an experienced mountaineer and one of Spain’s central zone most renowned ice climbers. I have opened several climbing routes of great difficulty, like El Escudo, El Último Tercio, Cristal de Sevres, Vía de los Salmantinos, Cascadas de Canalizos, Cascadas de Peña Negra, among many others.
I am also an experienced rock climber, and I have opened more than 30 climbing routes, specially in the Sierra de Béjar and Gredos area. I have climbed several peaks in the Picos de Europa mountain range, (Naranjo de Bulnes, Peña Vieja, Horcados Rojos, etc. Pyrenees Tozal de Mallo, Aneto, Perdido, Midi D'ossau).
I have climbed important peaks in the Alps, like Eiger, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Aguille Verte, Courtes, Les Droites and Grandes Jorases. I have been part of expeditions to Kenya. I reached 13 summits between 4800 and 5191m and I have also climbed in the Andes of Peru, where I reached the summit of El Pisco (5700m) and Huascarán (6876 m). I climbed to the Chopiqalqui summit (6700m) on the day from the base camp.
I joined the Spanish High Mountain School in 1981, and since then I have been working as a sports technician in rock climbing and mountaineering, teaching and directing several courses. For more than 10 years, I have been teaching climbing techniques to the Portuguese Fusiliers elite group of the Portuguese army, and for more than twenty years to the Police School of Avila.
Among my most outstanding students I can mention Juanito Oiarzabal, the first Spanish climber to conquer the fourteen eight-thousanderes and sixth in the world to make it, and Joao Garcia, also the first Portuguese climber to conquer the fourteen eight-thousanders.
Today I am the Thecnical Director of the COSUS ALPINO staff , where I put my extensive technical knowledge at the service of our clients.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
