Climbing on sandstone in Czech Republic has its own specific features which you can get to know with me. Let´s climb in The Bohemian Paradise the longest rock ridge in the Czech Republic. I will take you to this beautiful spot. We’ll encounter cracks, chimneys, friction climbing, edges and walls.
In particular, the location is called Suché skaly (Dry rocks). Here it's allowed to climb after raining because the local sandstone is very hard.
This is how the day usually goes. We start in the morning around 9AM (I can pick you up), check the equipment and warm up. Then we start with an easy climb on the first tower (Flag tower) and continue to the south for further towers. We will climb around 6-8 hours, but it depends on your climbing ability and stamina.
During your climbing experience you can enjoy many views of others spots. In fact, we have The Bohemian Paradise on one side and the beautiful Giant Mountains on the other.
You can get to know the traditional way of running protection (only knots), specific climbing, lowering, rope off and getting on top of rock towers. And if we have spare time we can go for crack or face climbing to the south faces.
There are summit books on the tops in which the first ascents to the tower are recorded. The climbers who first get to the top can greet the mountain and write "Hore zdar!" into the book. Maybe we’ll meet the living legends of sandstone climbing in the rocks, the extreme climbers. They have more than 3000 first ascents on sandstone. We may get to share some time in a typical climbers pub.
Some of the highlights that make this trip special include:
– Sandstone climbing in the heart of The Bohemian Paradise
– A unique experience
– Local pubs and beautiful countryside
