Enjoy 4 days of climbing Els Encantats and Amitges in the Pyrenees along with Joan, an IFMGA certified mountain guide and leader.

4 Days

Jun - Sep

Description

This 4 days program in the Pyrenees takes you to ‘Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes’, to climb Els Encantats and Amitges peaks.

The National Park is an area of granitic rock, lakes and forrests, and is one of the nicest and best preseved of the Pyrenees mountain range.

The two peaks are among the typical of the region, but are very different from each other. Els Encantats is a big mountain with an armonic figure, while Amitges is an impressive and solid narrow peak (Aguja). Its summit was longly desired by mountaineers at the beggining of 20th Century.

We will stay in two mountain shelters: Mallafré, owned by the “Federació d’Entitas Excursionistes de Catalunya”, and Amitges from the “Centre Excursionista de Catalunya”.

Itinerary
Day 1: Barcelona – Espot – Mallafré hut (transfer)
Day 2: Ascent to Els Encantats (900 mt ascent)
Day 3: Mallafré hut – Amitges hut (3 hours trekking)

Mountain Leader

UIAGM/IFMGA guide from Catalunya.

I was born in 1959, and following a family tradition, I started practicing mountain sports. After a period of learning (in the mountains of Catalunya and the Pyrenees), the influence of the alpine literature drove me to high mountains and the Alps, where I climbed some of the most well-known peaks. Following that, I continued my mountaineering career with winter expeditions, expeditions outside Europe, and adventures on my own. This passion made me decide to become a mountain guide, and I am fully dedicated to this profession all year long.

Other interests I have are photography, writing and teaching.
