Description

Tuyuk-Su is one of Kazakhstan’s most scenic and accessible mountaineering areas, located just a short 2-hour drive from Almaty in the majestic Tien Shan Mountains. This alpine valley sits at around 2,600 meters above sea level and serves as an ideal base for both beginner and experienced climbers.

Surrounded by impressive granite ridges and peaks ranging from 3,650 to 4,410 meters, Tuyuk-Su offers a wide variety of routes—from long, technical walls to classic alpine ridges. The area has a rich climbing history dating back to the 1930s and remains one of Central Asia’s premier mountaineering destinations.

We will meet in Almaty and transfer to a cozy mountain hut in the heart of the Tuyuk-Su Valley, where we’ll spend six nights. From this base, you’ll have access to excellent terrain to improve and refine your alpine climbing skills under the guidance of a certified mountain guide.

This course is fully customizable and includes training in key mountaineering techniques such as rope handling, knots, lead climbing, anchor building, belaying, ascending, improvised rescue, and jumaring with one or two devices.

Whether you're an experienced alpinist or a strong hiker eager to try technical climbing for the first time, this is a unique opportunity to learn and climb in one of Central Asia’s hidden alpine gems.

Best Season The best time to climb in Tuyuk-Su is from June to late September, when the snow has melted and most routes are dry and accessible. April and October usually bring heavy snow, making climbing conditions less favorable. If you're considering a different time of year, feel free to contact us—we’ll help you plan your trip based on current conditions.
