Description

This 1-day guided Ski Mountaineering tour in Cerro Vespignani will take you on an adventure full of amazing  highlights!

Mount Vespignani (2146 m) is located 40 km north of El Chaltén, in the southern Argentinean province of Santa Cruz. It’s one of the many peaks that make this region the hiking capital of the country. During winter it becomes an incredible place for backcountry snowboarding!

So, using our splitboards -or alpine touring skis- we’ll climb across the Huemul Glacier all the way up to Mount Vespignani  summit, from where we’ll appreciate one of the most spectacular views of PatagoniaMount Fitz Roy surrounded by the huge Patagonian Ice Field.

This alone would make a great trip, but there’s more! After enjoying the scenery we’ll ride down through pristine and untouched powder. There are few tourists who come down to El Chaltén in winter, so we’ll have the entire mountain to ourselves!

The program starts with a wonderful drive to our starting point in the southern headland of the Desert Lake. From here we’ll hike to the glacier, where we’ll skin up and continue to the summit and then ride down!

Sounds like an amazing adventure? It is! Send me a request now and we’ll start planning your visit to this amazing spot in southern Patagonia. You’ll spend an unforgettable weekend!

Mountain Guide

UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide from Argentina

Based in El Chaltén, south Patagonia, since 2000. I was the first guide to complete the AAGM (Argentine Mountain Guides Association) complete training platform.

I did the first Argentinean guided ascent of Mt. Fitz Roy via Supercolouir route (la Supercanaleta). I have guided Aguja Guillaumet more than 25 times. I also guided Aconcagua, Alpamayo (Peru), Matterhorn (Switzerland), Mont Blanc, Dent du Geant (France), The Rockies & The Bugaboos (Canada), Torres del Paine (Chile), among others.

I am also member of El Chaltén Search and Rescue team. I have several WFR certificates with different schools such as NOLS & Fundacion Ecomed.

I speak Spanish, English and French fluently

My biggest passion is Alpine Rock climbing & Ski Mountaineering. Get in touch with me if you are interested in discovering the unique spots in the Fitz Roy massif, and other gems around El Chaltén! I work together with a group of guides, so if I'm not available when requested, one of my colleagues will guide you.
