Ski Mountaineering in the Fitz Roy Range, Patagonia

In the heart of Argentine South Patagonia, the Fitz Roy Range offers one of the most dramatic ski mountaineering settings in South America. On this 9-day program guided by our select team of local Argentinian guides with international IFMGA / UIAGM certification, we explore a wild mountain environment shaped by glaciers, forests, sharp granite peaks, and the unmistakable skyline of Fitz Roy.

We begin with a cultural experience in Buenos Aires before continuing to El Calafate and El Chaltén, the gateway to the Fitz Roy massif. From there, we move into the mountains with trekking approaches, hut stays, camp-based sections, and ski objectives including Cerro Vespiniani, Cerro Crestón, Paso Superior, and Cerro Madsen.

This is a challenging trip for advanced skiers with strong fitness and previous ski touring or ski mountaineering experience. You should be comfortable skiing in variable backcountry snow, moving through remote terrain, and spending consecutive days in mountain conditions. The program includes professional local IFMGA mountain guides, all local transfers in the Fitz Roy area, meals during the expedition, accommodation in refuges, hostels, and mountain camps, plus logistical support throughout the trip.
