Description

I am happy to offer you this ice climbing initiation course in the Pyrenees-Bielsa region!

Welcome to a course where you will learn the ice climbing basic techniques of progression and safety. I will teach you how to ascend by frozen waterfalls with the technique of piolet traction.

This initiation course takes place in the region of the Pyrenees-Bielsa. It’s perfect for people who want to venture into the world of vertical and mixed ice. Moreover, you won’t need any prior experience. Having a basic fitness condition is more than enough.

When winter comes to the Pyrenees-Bielsa region it’s time to sharpen the piolet! The most amazing waterfalls that during the year go down noisily, in winter they get frozen and allow us to climb them.

By the end of the course you will be able to climb a one-way ice path with autonomy. And of course, I will be there to help you achieve it!

Here you can see the content of the course, in which you will learn:

  • Use of technical equipment and clothing;

  • Progression techniques with piolet, ice axes and crampons;

  • Types of crampons;

  • Adapting strategies and tactics to each activity;

  • Rope and safety chain;

  • Knots, anchoring and assembly of ice unions;

  • Rappelling and how to abandon an ice path;

  • Sharpening of piolets and crampons.

So, contact me for further information or if you want to enroll in the course. I have no doubt that the Pyrenees-Bielsa is the perfect area to practice this fascinating activity!

We enjoyed this trip in the Alps very much!! It was an excellent introduction to mountaineering and the stunning peaks of the Alps massive. Our guide Martin made the full experience a succes; pushing us to the limits, keeping us safe at difficult rocky ascents, but also taking time to enjoy the scenery and the climb. Thanks a lot for the beautiful pictures too!

Excellent experience! Martin is a real expert guide and he managed to adapt the program even when the snow conditions were poor so that we still got to do everything we wanted. Very honest, reliable, and friendly guide. He's very education focussed so we came away from the holiday with a lot of new skills as well. Outstanding trip.

This was a great 4-day hut-to-hut ski experience in the Pyrenees. The national park of Aiguestortes is beautiful and we had a lot of snow. Martin is a professional and social guide. He makes sure that the trip takes place from a pleasant and secure way. Due to the weather conditions we couldn't do the climb to the Montardo and to the Ratera, but Martin organized some alternatives to enjoy the 4 days. We were an international group and could communicate with Martin in English.
