Description

Join me on this fun-filled introductory half-day of backcountry skiing and you will gain the confidence and skills to continue with this awesome activity in the future, as we traipse and travail around one of Australia’s best, most popular and most beautiful skiing areas, Kosciuszko National Park.

Located in the south of New South Wales, approximately a 2 hour drive from the national capital city of Canberra, Kosciuszko National Park has long been known as the skiing mecca of Australia, as the multitude of mountains (including the nations highest, Mt. Kosciuszko), slopes and resorts combined with its unique alpine scenery and climate make it a go-to destination for skiers wanting their fix.

The half-day course will go across either of the two biggest ski areas of the park, Perisher Blue or Thredbo, and will include teaching the basic skills of backcountry skiing such as equipment, techniques, safety and awareness.

The park itself provides some of the best views and scenery in Australia, as its snow-capped mountain peaks and descents are lined with native Australian gumtrees and wildflowers, which lead down to wide open valleys filled with more spectacular flora and fauna, as well as the fresh, pristine water of the Snowy River.

If you are lucky you will also be able to see some of the local animals that live here such as pygmy possums, wild brumbys and kangaroos.

After the course you are free to ski to your hearts content around this snowy wonderland, hopefully with a newfound enthusiasm for the great activity of backcountry skiing.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
