You can go ski touring for ½ or a full day with one of our local guides. The program and itinerary will be defined based on your experience. If you are a beginner, a ½ day could be a good start in order to get the basics and learn how to use the ski touring equipment. For the more experienced ski tourers, you’ll be leaving for the day and explore the wild places of the mountain range.
Several ski tour options are possible. These will depend on the time you have, your experience, and the weather/snow conditions. You’ll find some suggestions here below.
You’ll start from the hamlet of Baptieu in Les Contamines-Montjoie towards Auberge of Colombaz and the chalets of Combettes. You’ll be going up for 2 hours and ski up 400 meters. This is one of several options. You’ll have the chance to taste the delicious pie at l’Auberge.
You won’t have much positive gain and you’ll enjoy some nice downhill skiing. We will take the ski lift in the Village of Les Contamines. From the top of Roselette ski lift (2115m), we will start skiing down towards south, at the foot of l’Aiguille de Roselette. From there, we will put on skins to go up to Le Col de la Cicle (2377m) or Col de la Fenêtre. We will ski down on la Balme and le Nant Borrant (1452m).
This day is ideal to get started with ski touring and enjoy breathtaking views. We will start either from Jaillet, either from Combloux from where we take the ski lift. We will put the skins and go up to Petite Croisse Baulet at 2000 meters high. The itinerary goes through forests and glades. The higher we go the more beautiful the views are. From the summit, we can go to Grand Croisse Baulet (2300m) for an additional 1 ½ hour with no additional technical challenges. We will have an amazing skiing itinerary down to Gietaz (1200m). We will get back to the starting point, either with the ski lift, either going off-piste skiing. It’s a great ski touring program that can be adapted based on the level of the participants.

We had a great time bouldering with Léo who was really enthusiastic and encouraging, and who selected a good range of boulders to suit our different strengths whilst still being challenging. Would definitely recommend this as a great way to get introduced to outdoor bouldering at Fontainebleau.

Willy was a brilliant instructor and guide. He took us on the Pont a Lesse beginners via ferrata, then onto a slightly harder section, and finally a short top-roped climb. We climbed with our 10 and 12 year olds and he was brilliant and making sure they followed all the safety rules, gave them good advice and on a particularly tricky vertical section, used a top rope for extra security. He was really encouraging and great company. He communicated well beforehand and his English was excellent. He also used to be a photographer before he became a climbing instructor, and he took some fabulous photos which he shared with us afterwards. We had a fantastic time and I would definitely recommend going on a trip with him.

He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, very friendly and approachable. He tailored the day to our experience and gave us loads of great tips to increase our enjoyment and improve our skills. I would highly recommend a day's bouldering with Ivan.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
