Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive to Aberdare National Park

Start your day with breakfast at your Nairobi hotel before departing for Aberdare National Park. Upon arrival at Outspan Hotel, enjoy a satisfying lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to The Ark Hotel for a unique experience of floodlit game viewing. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at The Ark Lodge.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart from The Ark Hotel and drive to Lake Nakuru, passing through the equator line, Thompson's Fall, Subukia viewpoint, and Nakuru town. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive until sunset, then return to Lake Nakuru Woodlands Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Nakuru National Park is renowned for its spectacular scenery. Once a dazzling expanse of deep pink flamingos, the park's beauty is accentuated by the intense fuchsias against Lake Nakuru's deep blue alkaline waters. While the flamingo numbers have diminished due to natural factors, the park remains stunning, featuring rocky escarpments, acacia forests, waterfalls, wooded hills, and euphorbia trees around the lake.

Despite the reduced flamingo population, Lake Nakuru is still one of Kenya's finest parks. The wildlife viewing is accessible, with opportunities to observe rare Rothschild’s Giraffe, white rhino along the lake shore, and one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhino. Other wildlife includes zebra, hippo, olive baboon, vervet and colobus monkeys, waterbuck, and hyena. Keep an eye out for big safari wildlife such as lion, cheetah, leopard, and buffalo.

Day 3: Lake Naivasha

Following breakfast at the lodge, complete the check-out process, and embark on the morning and final game drive at Lake Nakuru. Explore the Rhino Sanctuary and track other magnificent animals that inhabit this park. Around 10:00 am, depart from the Lake Nakuru region for Lake Naivasha. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge. The evening can be spent at leisure, either by the lakeside or visiting the floral farms.

Dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided at Naivasha Kongoni Resort.

Day 4: Hell’s Gate National Park

Indulge in a delicious breakfast served at the resort, then check out and head to Hell’s Gate National Park, the only park in Kenya where you can stroll alongside animals, as there are no predators. Opt for a cycling adventure covering the 11-kilometer descent into the gorge for a nature walk, offering breathtaking views of the rock layers. Later, ascend to the main gate, meet the driver guide, and depart from Naivasha towards the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival, if time allows, enjoy an evening game drive; alternatively, check in at Mara Sopa Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Masai Mara National Park

Start the day with a morning game drive, followed by a leisurely and restful afternoon by the poolside or another exhilarating game drive. This region of the northern Serengeti is the residence of the great wildebeest migration, offering the opportunity to witness vast herds of these animals covering a significant portion of the reserve. You can also consider an optional balloon safari. Enjoy meals and overnight accommodations at Mara Maisha Luxury Lodge.

Day 6: Return to Nairobi

Have an early morning breakfast and proceed with the return to Nairobi, reaching the city by early afternoon, approximately around 12:00 noon.

The Climbing Guides and service in both Kenya and Tanzania were super (5+ stars) Kenya Shem, Joxhu, Joseph & Agustin super and thanks. For Kilimanjaro, Deus and Goodlucky were fantastic. However Claudios needs to update the schedule (Lake Nakuru day 7 was canceled) and make available lunches (they were missing on 3 days to and from Nairobi) and make clear when travel will be alone. Finally the Nairobi service agent pushes additional add on Nairobi packages. These are of poor value and should be avoided. These additional package coverage was misleading and I should have avoided completely. This was a Nairobi issue only. Everyone else was above board and super to work with. in summary, the climbs are great and highly recommended. Note the published schedule is not exact and deal with the Nairobi service agent with caution. (Don't take the additional offerings.) Overall it was a very good experience where I met with many great people. Thanks to all.

I had a successful hiking trip with Shem as my chief guide! We were successful in summiting Mt Kenya and came back down via the Chogoria route well! The team worked really well together and communication was professional as well as clear/transparent. I appreciated that every single person in the crew were up to task, responsible, and respectful. Shem, my guide, was very friendly and accomodating to my questions, needs and requests. He was also very kind and encouraging, i.e. encouraging me to walk on my own pace and take breaks while going up and down the mountains and valleys. The team also consisted of a cook, Augustine, and two porters - Joshua and Julius. They all seem to be working as a team really well. Augustine would check on how I feel each day (e.g. stomach and gut health) and he is such a good cook! Joshua and Julius are both quiet, strong and helpful porters. Despite the heavy loads on their backs, they would always have no problem getting to every destination on time (waaaaay earlier than me!). I had a great and memorable time in Mt Kenya. We started off the trek on the last day of 2023 and it was so special welcoming the new year above the clouds! I highly recommend for adventurers out there who are looking for the perfect team to enjoy Mt Kenya with to reach out to these guys! Ask for Shem as the guide -- guarantee that he won't disappoint! 😊

My partner and I had a fantastic experience hiking the Chogoria to Sirimon Mt Kenya route. The full team (Shem the guide, the chef (Gustin) and the Porters (Joshua, Peter, Jackson and Gilbert) were excellent and thoroughly looked after us. We were never hungry and the food was excellent and kept our energy levels up. When we were a little poorly they looked after us. Shem the guide always made sure we were OK, and was great at excellent the plants and sharing information about the surroundings. Would highly recommend this team.
