Description
Located in the magical Picos de Europa in the Cantabrian mountains, the Pena Vieja (2,617m) is a spectacular peak.
It’s location makes for some of the most breathtaking views you will ever get from its summit. And the reason for that is you will feel like you can see into forever, as you gaze far out into the endless ocean stretching beyond the Spanish shore.
The climb to the top of the Pena Vieja will last one day. Hence making it the perfect addition to any vacation you may be taking to the Spanish province of Cantabria. Also, in the area near the mountain and the rest of the Picos de Europa, there is a great deal of wonderful restaurants and comfortable accommodation options you can choose from.
For the ascent, participants should be in good physical condition. And while you do not have to be a climbing expert to enjoy this trip, you should have some previous mountaineering experience.
We will be scaling approximately 1000 metres throughout the day. As a result, you will get to see exactly why sailors who after months at sea marvelled at the sight of the Picos de Europa, where the Pena Vieja stood and continues to stand tall and proud.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
