Cantabrian Mountains
6 Days
Feb, Mar
During this 6-day ski mountaineering trip in Picos de Europa, you will enjoy fantastic ascents and descents. The first three days we will be in an small mountain village of Picos de Europa in Sotres, Asturias. There, we will ski on positive and negative vertical drops between 1.000 and 1.300 meters of altitude.
For the next three days, we will move to Potes (Cantabria), a historical villa on the southern slope of Picos de Europa mountain range. From here, we will enjoy more and more ascents.
Here you have more details about this amazing ski mountaineering trip of 6 days:
Weather conditions in the Picos de Europa belong to a maritime mountain climate, with heavy snow rainfalls from 1.000 meters. The snow quality is quite changeable due to the influence and proximity to the Cantabrian sea.
The ski level for this kind of programs is advanced.
The slopes are between 900 to 1.300 meters with normally descents of 1.000 or more
Maximum group size is 6 people, but you can do the activity with a minimum of 2.
There are a lot of good things I can mention about this program, but I think the best features are the rugged and steep slopes of these mountains of a modest altitude.

IFMGA/UIAGM guide from Spain.
I was born in 1960, and started practicing mountaineering when I was 13 years old. In 1998 I got my IFMGA/UIAGM international certification.
I live in the town of Sotres, in Picos de Europa National Park. Most of my professional experience in alpinism, skiing and climbing took place in the European ranges, mainly in Picos de Europa and the Alps. But I also have experience in the Himalayas.
Before becoming a guide I was also ski instructor and piste patrol.
