Join me on this program as we climb up the south ridge of the famous Gimli peak (2,806 m). Located at south in the Valhalla provincial park, in the Kootenay province district (British Columbia), this peak is one of the best of its kind! A perfect program for advanced climbers.
The south ridge of the Gimli peak is an exceptional rock climbing site. This amazing 8 pitch alpine rock climb includes steep cracks, chicken heads, grooves and fingery walls.
This 1-day program is a great option for Advanced climbers. Intermediate climbers can consider another version of this program here. Note that while the program in itself (access, approach, ascent and fescent) takes 1 day, we will have a pre-trip meeting the evening before (7pm in town).

To come along on this program, you will need to have a previous climbing experience of and advanced level. You will need to be able to follow traditional crack climbs (5.10a), carrying a small pack.
As for general weather conditions, you can expect 10°C to 28°C in the summer, dropping considerably at night.
The site is reachable by car via the Bannock creek forest road. It is located 1.5 hours north west of Nelson, or 3-hour drive south of Revelstoke.

4.00am: meeting and drive to the location
6.00am: once at the trail head, we begin to hike
8.00am: we reach the base of Gimli – climb up!
3.30pm: we reach the Gimili peak
6.00pm: we get back to the camping and begin our return drive
8.00pm: back in Nelson, we enjoy a late dinner
