Near the border of British Columbia, the Bow Valley of Alberta is home to some of Canada´s best known lakes, including Lake Louise in Banff National Park. The park is internationally known, and the mountains, rivers, lakes, and nature of the region make it a top destination in western Canada all year round.

There are a plethora of activities for any outdoor adventurers looking for an exciting trip, and the summer weather allows explorers to immerse themselves in the varied landscape of such beautiful country. More specifically, the Canmore area just east of Banff is loaded with great places for rock climbers of all experiences.

Roughly twenty minutes outside of the town of Canmore , the Yam Bluffs provide the perfect spot to learn about rock climbing and dive into the sport. They are named after Mount Yamnuska, which translates to ¨wall of stone.¨ It has many routes, and they are designed to help beginners and intermediate climbers gain valuable time on a local crag.

I will make sure you are well versed on what the appropriate equipment is and how to use it, and set you up with the basic skills you will need to start. We have a half-day and a full-day option, depending on your schedule and how much time you would like to spend climbing.

This region is my home, so it is my pleasure to guide you through the fundamentals of climbing and get you excited about taking on the rocks. I am safe and patient, so I can guarantee you will feel the thrill of the sport and make sure you are comfortable and ready to progress. You will always have a fun, secure, and overall great day when we get climbing!

The program is designed for all ages and levels. You should have an interest in rock climbing, and I can guide you through the rest.

Book this NOW and spend a day introducing yourself to rock climbing in the unbelievable beauty of the Bow Valley!

I can also take you multi-pitch climbing in the Canmore area for a more ambitious program! Or we can hike and scramble our way through a trip in Alberta!

Brent was competent and I felt had the qualifications to keep us safe rock climbing. But, compared to other guides we have had (one the day before in via ferrata) Brent seemed disinterested in us and was not as engaged in teaching. He fulfilled the requirements, but I would not rebook or recommend based on our experience.

Brent was an amazing guide. Knowledgeable, personable, safe and a great communicator. He communicated very well with us leading up to the trip and executed the trip flawlessly. Id highly recommend Brent if you are looking for an guide in the back country.
