The Vitosha Massif is a beautiful collection of peaks that loom over the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia. There is a great deal of exciting activities a person can enjoy in the massif, including walking, hiking, biking, rock climbing, ski touring and snowshoeing, which will be the focus of this trip.
Participants of this trip should be in good physical condition. Also, because of the large amounts of snow in the Vitosha massif, there can be some tricky parks. Thus the importance of having a qualified guide leading you.
This trip has a great variety of routes that you can choose from. They are all amazing, and can accommodate people of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. One example is ascending Cherni Vrah (2,290m), the highest mountain in the massif. This route will take approximately 6 hours, and will involve a 500 metre ascent. There is no technical skill required for this route, so it's perfect for beginners. There is an even easier 4-hour route that starts at the Zlatnite Mostove, also known as the Golden Bridge, goes through a forest, and ends at the Kamen Del peak (1,862m).
There is also the Vistosha Ring Road route. This is the easiest route and allows you to go through the villages of Boyana and Dragalevtsi. And finally there is the Aleko hut route. This is a longer route and allows you to pass through the area of Reznyovete to the village of Zheleznitsa.
There are even more routes to choose from. And with so many snowshoeing routes available, you will have no problem enjoying the beauty of the Vitosha massif. If you would like to join me, just send me a request, and let me guide you.
I can also lead you on another Bulgarian snowshoe tour near the town of Bankso.

Lyuben is a very good guide. More than a ski touring guide , he is a perfect travel organiser. We were a group of 4 Belgium guys around 50 to make the 4 days touring ski tour. He chose for us a very good family guesthouse, with very good food. He let us discover local thermal bath, traditional restaurant. About ski touring, Lyuben chose each day the best spot possible for the landscape and the snow adapted to the changing weather conditions. Time keeping was perfect. Zero stress for any situation. He has a comfortable car and does not hesitate to drive hours to bring us to the best area or to bring back us to the airport. Very friendly, super adaptive with us, I warmly recommend Lyuben.
