Description

Discover the incredible coastline of Southern California and head into the hills and canyons above on a two-day surfing, hiking, and camping trip! This guided program places you on the golden beaches of Malibu before sending you into the mountains above them for a fascinating hike and camping session beneath the stars!

Malibu has a strong allure for all travelers, especially the most adventurous. The city and surrounding area in Los Angeles County is full of wilderness delights, specific to Southern California and its unique flora, fauna, and geology. Zuma Beach, Surfrider Beach Escondido Beach, and Point Dume are just some of the incredible beaches in Santa Monica Bay, offering immaculate views of Catalina Island and even Palos Verdes.

Your program begins here early in the morning on our first day, heading into the waves at 7:00am to get the best surfing conditions in the best areas. Before you even head into the water, we will focus on how to maneuver on the board, stand up, and prepare for a day riding the Pacific. We have your meals and transportation covered, so after we go over the fundamentals, we will take you into the hills for a hike.

This three-hour trek into the bluffs and cliffs above the coast boasts even more amazing views. Bounded by the Santa Monica Mountains, you will see a wild amalgamation of unusual wildlife. Chaparral and coastal sage scrub are an intriguing sight for plant lovers as you hike through trails for an hour of satisfying and rewarding adventure.

Finishing our evening at our campsite, we’ll share stories of our day and enjoy a fireside meal before returning to our tents under the open California sky. Returning to the beach in the morning gives us another shot at taking on the waves, riding into the Pacific and giving you a chance to put your hard practice into action.

We will cover your logistics, including the tents and camping gear, so you just have to focus on having a blast. We have available programs every other weekend from June through September, so there are plenty of options to accommodate your schedule all summer long.

The program is great for beginners who want an all-encompassing program in the gorgeous California outdoors. Everyone is welcome, and we will make sure you have a safe, satisfying, and absolute fun time in the beautiful setting along the southern curves of the best coast!

Mountain Guide

Founder and instructor Quinn Carson never had access to the ocean or the mountains growing up. He grew up in Chicago as a wakeboarder, skateboarder and snowboarder. Once he learned to surf, everything changed.

Quinn moved to California in 2011 and became a surf instructor working for three different surf schools. He became popular because his teaching approach was light-hearted, passionate and effective. Quinn fell in love with teaching and has since taught surfing in California, Florida, Hawaii, England and Costa Rica.

The ocean and the mountains are Quinn’s intense passion. He has dedicated his career to exploring California and finding amazing places where you can surf, hike, climb, camp, and interact intimately with these two environments.

The joy of sharing these amazing places and experiences with travelers and visitors is what drove Quinn to found Eat Sleep Surf. As a midwesterner himself, he knows what it is like to discover these passions for the first time, and he nurtures this discovery in every guest.

Quinn is a certified Wilderness First Responder, AMGA climbing guide, and Red Cross lifeguard/CPR certified.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
