During this great trip, you will discover the **highlights of the Serra de Estrela region**, both natural and cultural. It is a great place to visit in the summer, as visitors are rewarded with fresh mountain air and colorful wildflowers gently blowing in the breeze. In the winter, the landscape is equally stunning, a soft white blanket of snow draped over the terrain.  Serra de Estrela is the l**argest protected conservation area** in the country, and is also home to the country's only ski resort.

During the trip, **we will explore Tower (Torre), the highest point in mainland Portugal at 1,993 meters**. On a clear day, the view extends over 100 miles, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, at the summit you may choose to purchase some **locally made cheese**, a true gem of region. After you have some time to explore this area at your leisure, we will head to the **village of Sabugueiro**, a small, traditional shepherd's village with lovely scenic views of the surrounding countryside. From there, we head to the tranquil waters of **Comprida Lagoon,** a stunning lake set in the mountains. Finally, we visit **Seia** and the fascinating **Museum of Bread,** where we will learn about the traditional craft of bread baking and the history of this rural area.

Alternately, we can use the Living Tours Gray Line Office as our meeting point (Rua Mouzinho da Silveira 352). Pick up or drop off at another site requires previous confirmation and is subject to an additional charge.
