##### The **Garganta del Diablo** is a magnificent rocky formation, approximately **7 kilometers** outside of the city of **Tilcara**.  It is one of the most iconic places in Jujuy, in the **northern part of Argentina**. And **horseback riding** is one of the best ways to explore this **magical place**.

We’ll ride through this **fantastic gorge** that the **Huassamayo river** created to forge its way through the rocks. Also, from the **Garganta del Diablo**, we’ll enjoy mesmerizing views of **Quebrada de Humahuaca** and **Nevado del Chañi**. Moreover, it is a privileged place to spot different birds that overfly the area. And it has a marvellous **waterfall of over 15 meters** of height!

On our trip, we’ll depart from the **barrio de Chicapa** at around **2,450 meters**. Thereupon our adventure begins, ascending to **2,950 meters**, by a **7 kilometers** road that progressively gets steeper. Then, we’ll reach a dazzling view spot, where we will get hypnotizing sceneries of the town and the **Quebrada**.

After that, we’ll follow our path until we reach an area in which we’ll be able to appreciate the depth of the gorge at the **Garganta del Diablo**. Here, we’ll take a short hike of **30 minutes approximately**, descending to the **Huasamayo river** and heading towards the **cascade**. And, if the weather allows it, we can even go for a quick and **refreshing swim**.

Later, we’ll return through a trail that surrounds **Cerro Negro**. Finally, we’ll descend returning to the streets of **Tilcara**.

###### Join me on this horseback riding adventure to **Laguna de los Patos**. Discover this marvellous place near the charming town of **Tilcara**, in the province of **Jujuy**, **northern Argentina**.

The itinerary I suggest will begin riding towards the **Rio Grande**, passing through **Tilcara**, until we reach the **Laguna de los Patos**. Then, we will head back using the **Malka river**, passing by and admiring local houses and fincas.

This mesmerizing lagoon was formed over an upland, with the most **majestic mountains and hills** of differents shapes and colors. And, even though **a desert surrounds it**, it is an incredibly **lush area**, used for cultivating. Here, the tranquility is only interrupted briefly by the wind blowing or the song of a bird. It is a true Eden on Earth that seems to have come out of a dream.

More than **20 species of aquatic birds** visit this lagoon daily, especially different kinds of ducks. Hence its name, which means the **_Lagoon of Ducks_**.

Located only **2 kilometers outside of Tilcara**, near **Pucara**, it is very accessible through the road near **Rio Grande**. Thus, the horseback riding we’ll experience will be gentle and peaceful. Yet, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking sceneries in the country.

##### **Jujuy** is a marvellous province in northern **Argentina**. And one of the best ways to explore it is horseback riding across three of its most beautiful parts: **Tilcara**, **Maimara** and **Garganta del Diablo**.

**Tilcara**, is an enchanting town in the valley of **Quebrada de Humahuaca**, deep in the mountains of **northern Argentina**. This **UNESCO World Heritage** site, has a huge **cultural significance**, with indigenous traditions still alive and celebrated, exquisite food, live music and lovely people.

The **Garganta del Diablo** is only 7 kilometers outside the city of **Tilcara**. This dazzling rocky formation is one of the most iconic destinations in **Jujuy**. We’ll get to ride along this gorge, created by the **Huasamayo river** to forge its way through the mountains. Also, it offers the unique opportunity to visit its **dazzling 15 meters waterfall**. Morever, it has privileged views of the **Nevado del Chañi** and the **Quebrada de Humahuaca**. What’s more, it’s the perfect location for **birdwatching**. Finally, **Maimara** is only 5 kilometers outside of **Tilcara**. This intriguing place still guards many secrets and traditions of the **Maimará** and **Tilcara** indigenous people. In fact, its name means **_falling start_** in the **Maimará language**. So when you get the opportunity to explore its streets, it is easy to understand why. This small and picturesque town in the **Humahuaca Ravine** is surrounded by mountains that seem as if a painter had brushed each one of them with a unique palette. And it is indeed the nickname these peaks receive: **_the Painter’s Palette_**.

##### **Quebrada de Humahuaca** is a **majestic valley** in the argentinean province of **Jujuy**, at the north part of the country. Let me show you its most impressive parts on this **3-day horseback riding** trip.

On this journey we will explore this marvellous mountainous valley. We’ll get to admire the **Puna**’s plateau that surround it. And we’ll learn about the great cultural significance this places holds. **Quebrada de Humahuaca** is representative of the wonderful valleys in the **South Andes**. So, by exploring it we’ll get the chance to peek into the Andean magical world.

Moreover, it served as a major trade route over the past **10,000 years**. Hence, there are vestiges of settlements all throughout the valley. Even today, it is a crucial path for transportation and connectivity between the different towns, from the plains to the highlands of the **Andes**.

We’ll also reach **archaeological pre-incan sites**, right at the feet of the mountains. Plus, we’ll admire the most hypnotizing sceneries on our **6-7 hours per day** riding.

##### **Tilcara** is a magical region surrounded by **majestic mountains** of different shapes and colors. This enchanting town lies within the mesmerizing valley of **Quebrada de Humahuaca**, a UNESCO World heritage site. And **horseback riding** is undoubtedly the **best way to explore this fantastic place**.  

There are many reasons to come to this place. First, **Tilcara** is one of the oldest settlements in **Argentina**, that has been continuously inhabited, dating back more than **10,000 years**. Also, it has an important **cultural significance** for the country. And the **sceneries** here are simply **breathtaking**!

So the itinerary I propose, follows some of the most **iconic places of Tilcara** and **Maimara**. We’ll depart from the **Chicapa** neighbourhood at around **2,450 meters**. Thereupon, our journey begins, bordering the pre-incan ruins of **Pucara**. After that, we’ll follow the river bank of **Huasamayo**, into the old trail, which local people use to reach **Punta Corral**.

From there, we will border the **Paleta del Pinto**r hill until we reach **Pata Pampa**. Once in **Pata Pampa**, we will make a stop to rest and appreciate all the beauty that will surround us, and the spectacular views of the **Quebrada de Humahuaca**, **Tilcara** and **Maimara**.

Later, we’ll descend towards the **Bodega de Fernando Dupon**, where we’ll visit the local vineyards and its bodega. This will take around 30 minutes, after which we’ll head back crossing the **Rio Grande** and the **Chicapa** farming fields. So it will be a unique opportunity to observe the cultivating process, with a dazzling scenery as its background.
