Stetind (1391 meters) is **Norway's national mountain** for a very good reason. Located in the northern region of Nordland, it is the most stunning peak in the country and a favorite among climbers!

The normal route to the summit is **not technically difficult but quite exposed**, so it is key to attempt the ascent in the company of a professional mountain guide. I'll keep you safe all the way!

Starting from the parking lot, the climb takes between 10 and 14 hours. Take into account that the ascent is quite demanding and, therefore, requires a very good fitness level.

First, we'll hike for about 3 hours to the Halls pre-summit. From there, we will tie into ropes and climb for about 2 hours to reach the Stetind summit. Finally, the descent takes about the same time. We'll make sure to take it easy during the climb because the main goal is to enjoy the day!

I can take you on this Stetind ascent every day from **July to September**, in groups of 2 or 3 people. We will meet at the parking lot or we may arrange to pick you at Narvik.

There are several accommodation options in town. From camping sites to 4 star hotels, you can choose the best option for you and your group. Let me know if you need advice on where to stay!

Guided Stetind ascent in northern Norway

**Join me on a day trip to climb to the top of Stetind (1,392m), the national mountain of Norway. Traverse an airy passage and witness breathtaking views as you climb the rugged alpine terrain of this spectacular peak!**

Stetind is **a high-quality granite monolith**. Located in Tysfjord, about an hour drive from the city of Narvik, it is known for its distinct obelisk shape.

The trip starts from the parking lot, just under the mountain itself. From here, we will hike for about 4 hours to the “Halls” pre-summit. Here, I will brief you on safety measures. We will put on our harnesses and helmets to embark on the journey towards the top!

The climb is mostly steep and airy. We will go along the ridge before climbing the last stretch to the flat summit. The descent follows the same route, with a short abseil.

It will be a long and adventurous day. Depending on the weather conditions and the fitness of the group, it can take up to 12 hours from start to finish. First, we will hike from the base to an altitude of 1200m, followed by a climb to the top at 1392m.

Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with stunning views! To return, we will rappel the same way to reach the pre-summit and then descend to the base.

The trip does not require you to have previous mountaineering experience, but it is good if you have been on nature hikes before. The last bit to the top is very airy and those scared of heights might want to sit this one out!

I invite you to climb **Stetind (1392 m) South Pillar**, one of the most classic **multipitch climbing routes** in Norway. It's a perfect program for experienced climbers.

Stetind is also Norway's national mountain. This high granite monolith peak has an **obelisk shape that makes it a unique mountain**. Also, the view from the summit is simply amazing!

We will enjoy **a fantastic climb with about 14 pitches**, climbing up to Norwegian grade 6. However, most of the pitches are in the 4 and 5 area.

The route follows the marked pillar that sticks out from the south face of the mountain. Then, it follows slabs, cracks and dihedrals on pure granite from a ridge known as Kongelosjen, about 900 meters about sea level, all the way to the top of Stetind.

During this day climb, we will ascend about 1400 meters. It will be approximately 10 kilometres in length. **It will take us about 10 to 14 hours in total**, getting to the summit and back.

Please note that in order to join this tour, you need to be in good shape. Most important, you must be used to hiking and scrambling in exposed and airy terrain. Also, you must feel comfortable climbing at Norwegian grade 6 (French 6A).

Join me on this 1-day rock climbing trip and reach the summit of **Stetind (1392 m)**, **Norway's national mountain**! This stunning peak is **an impressive high granite monolith**. It has an obelisk shape that gives it a unique look.

The Stetind lies in Tysfjord, about an hour drive from Narvik. Most important, I can assure the view from the top is unforgettable!

We will start our climb from the parking lot at the foot of the west ridge of Stetind. From that point, we will hike for about 3 to 4 hours to the Halls fortopp, the east summit. The last stretch to the main summit goes along the east ridge, the normal route. **Our climb here will be mostly easy but airy scrambling**.

Then, about half way along the ridge, we will find a marked crux known as Mysosten. This is where we will have to climb up an impressive 15-20 meter portion (norwegian grade 4+). It has an 800 meter fall straight down to the valley below us!

**We will climb about 1400 meters to the summit of Stetind**. It is 10 kilometres in length approximately. Also, getting to the summit and back  will take us between 10 to 14 hours.

In order to join this climb you need to have experience in rugged terrain. Besides, although you don't need to be an experienced climber, **you should feel comfortable in exposed and airy terrain**.

Jutting out of the sea, Stetind is Norway's national mountain and a natural treasure that is well worth discovering on a unique climbing adventure to its summit. This gorgeous 1,392 m (4,567 ft) peak is one of the 3 most important climbs in the country next to Store Skagastølstind and Romsdalshorn.

We will climb Stetind via the Normal Route which goes up the East Ridge.

We will begin at sea level and wind up through a lovely birch forest until we reach Svartvannet, where we will stop to rest. From there, we will continue on a steeper scramble up to Stetind's false summit, where we will put on a harness and tie ourselves into the ropes. Once safety is in place, we will continue up a ridge: It will take courage as it is the most difficult part of the tour, and involves dangling high above the ground. After taking that leap of faith (we will be by your side to help and guide you), the prize is the fantastic view from the top with the Lofoten mountains on the horizon and the Narvik glaciers in the back.

In order to climb Stetind, you need a good fitness level and you should be comfortable with some exposure and heights. Previous climbing experience helps, but is not mandatory.
