The **Giant Mountains** are located in the **northeast of Czech Republic, in the border between Czech Republic and Poland**. These mountains are the highest mountain range in the country.

This area is one of the **most popular winter sports center** of Czech Republic. It offers a large number of comfortable ski resorts.

In this opportunity, I propose a 1-day backcountry ski tour program during while we’ll skiing the best slopes. Further we’ll have the chance to discover and appreciate all the beauty of its nature resources, such as its unique flora and fauna. We’ll start from the **Pec pod Sněžkou ski resort.**

Giant Mountains, 1-day ski tour program

#### **I am happy to invite you to a 4-day ski touring trip from west to east and back in the Giant Mountains.**

I have planned this program with the intention of making you live **a different tour on skis, off the beaten tracks, in the Giant Mountains.** We will be 4 days almost alone in the wilderness!

The Giant Mountains lie **on the border between Poland and Czech Republic**. They are the highest mountain range in the country. During winter time it is a perfect place for the practice of many snow activities, especially ski-resort skiing, cross country skiing and ski touring.

The top 3 reasons why I like taking my clients and friends ski touring there are:

*   _**I know the place perfectly and I've a good relationship with local owners of mountain lodges;**_
    
*   _**You will ski among the best trails and freeride spots;**_
    
*   _**The region has amazing weather and snow conditions during the winter, sometimes even better than in the Alps!**_ 
    

Regarding the accommodation, we'll have dinner and rest in a **different mountain hut every night.** All of them are very well equipped, with excellent services and food. They usually serve good beers which is very important after an intense skiing day!

I can take with me **a maximum of 6 people**. It is not mandatory to be an expert skier, but it will be a plus if you have some prior experience and **a good fitness level**. Anyway, the itinerary can be adapted to your level. I can also add more days to this trip or shorten it. I'm sharing with you a sample day-by-day program at the bottom of this description.

Our starting point will be in **Dolní Mísečky** from where we’ll move to Kotelní Jámy and then to the Labská hütte, a hut that has its own brewery!

Then we’ll continue to Sněžné Jámy where we can do some ice climbing. Finally we’ll reach the **Martinova Bouda**. It is a mountain hut (with sauna!) where we will spend the first night.

We’ll set off the hut in the search of some peaks where to ski down. We’ll dinner and rest at Bouda pod Sněžkou mountain hut (with sauna as well!)

From the hut we will move to **Obří důl** and probably we ski down to the Poland side of the Giant Mountains. Then we continue to the **Sněžka**, the highest peak of Czech Republic with 1602 meters of altitude. Finally, we’ll ski down to the **Děčínská hutte**, where we’ll stay for the night. Here we can taste their own production of cheese, yogurt and cakes.

Last day. We’ll ski down from the hut to Obří důl again and then to Špindlerův mlýn. After passing by Medvědín we’ll be at the parking lot, where we can go back the starting point by car. Final dinner in the restaurant “LA BOTTA” to celebrate such an amazing tour!

The meeting point can be in Turnov, Mladá Boleslav (Škoda), Vrchlabí, Jilemnice, Trutnov, Pec pod Sněžkou or Prague. Prague has good flight connections.

The snow conditions, the stunning scenery and the great network of comfortable mountain huts, make the Giant Mountains a perfect option for ski touring.

Giant Mountains ski touring from west to east

Krkonoše, in English called **Giant Mountains**, are the highest mountains in **Czech Republic**. Not as large or high as the Alps but beautiful. Don´t expect sharp ridges or steep gully descents. In fact, it's more ski touring on rounded hills. But remember, due to its location the climate of Krkonoše can be rough.

I've prepared a 3-day ski tour during which we will cross the main ridge from the east to the west. **A small Haute Route of Krkonoše**. Of course we will try to reach the top of **Snežka** (1602 m), the highest peak. We will spend two nights in the mountain cabins.

Ski touring in the Giant Mountains

This ski touring course in the Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic is perfect for those who want to try this activity for the first time. You'll learn about **mountain safety, avalanche equipment and progression on skis.**

During this 2-day course, we will cover the **use and proper care of ski touring equipment**. You will also learn how to use avalanche equipment (beacon, probe and shovel) and **we will practice searching for victims.** In this regard, I will also teach you how to **assess avalanche risk and we'll talk about snow and weather conditions.**

This course takes place in the backcountry terrain of **Bouřňák ski resort**, in the Ore Mountains, from mid-February to April. I can take a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 people on this course.

No previous ski touring experience is required because **it is a beginner's course**. However, take into account that we will spend between 6-8 hours on our skis every day. A good physical condition is a must.
