Belgium is a small country of Western Europe. Beyond its beautiful medieval towns and exquisite cuisine, this country has many exciting natural attractions. Trail running is one of the best ways to discover the wonders Belgium has to offer, as well as a challenging activity. Les Hautes Fagnes, one of the largest natural reserves in the country, is a great destination. The southern region of Wallonia offers different trails among nature like Bouillon and Engreux. To take part of these trips you should be in excellent physical conditions as you’ll be running between 10 and 20 kilometers each day. Visit all year round for varying conditions of trail running.
Located in Western Europe, Belgium covers an area of just over 30,000 square kilometers, and shares borders with the Netherlands to the north, Germany to the east, Luxembourg to the southeast, and France to the southwest. To the northwest the North Sea lies off its coast. There are thick forests on rolling hills and rugged and rocky terrain in the Ardennes, and the plateau of the High Fens in the east of Belgium, all excellent for trail running.
Belgium is home to a maritime climate like most of the northwest of Europe, with cool winters and comfortably warm summers, along with rainfall during all seasons.
