Description

Join me on this 1+day of freeride skiing in Zillertal and surroundings, Austria and we will experience the thrill of skiing along some of the freshest, most untouched and pure powder in Europe, making our way down some truly awesome and exciting rides, whilst also taking in the majestic and breath-taking views of the mighty alps around us.

We will enjoy the some fresh powder away from the bustling crowds. The Zillertal and Tirol boast an extensive, untouched freeride potential waiting to be explored. With brief ascents from the ski areas, we enter a serene realm of peace, solitude, and pristine powder snow. Join us, and let us, as locals, guide you to the most enchanting freeride spots.

We'll carefully select the optimal ski area for the day based on prevailing conditions, and our diverse options include:

  • Hochfügen
  • Hochzillertal
  • Mayrhofen
  • Hintertux
  • Gerlos
  • Stubaital
  • Pitztal
  • Innsbruck

...along with numerous other hidden gems.

We will meet in the morning at the designated lift station. Following a brief yet crucial safety briefing and equipment inspection, our extraordinary powder adventure kicks off. For an enhanced experience, we suggest bringing skins and touring bindings for your freeride skis or a splitboard, enabling us to explore even the most secluded slopes.

In order to join this trip, it's important to have a good Fitness level, good enough for a full day of skiing, including short hikes of up to 20 minutes.

You also need to be a skilled on-piste skier, proficient in riding through deep powder snow and navigating challenging conditions.

But it's ok if you are a beginner in backcountry skiing or snowboarding, it's not a problem. We're delighted to guide you and impart the skills needed for an enjoyable powder skiing experience.

The scenery is as post-card pretty as one imagines the Austrian countryside to be, with numerous alpine forests giving way to glorious and mesmerizing lakes nestled within deep and vast valleys.

There is something for everyone in terms of freeride skiing options here, and hopefully by the end you will have improved your freeride skiing and gained a newfound appreciation for the gorgeous, idyllic area of Zillertal.

Mountain Guide

I grew up in Tyrol (Austria), fascinated by the mountains at a very young age. This led me to discover the world of climbing at the age of 10. I never would have imagined that I would become so enthralled by it.

I became a full certified IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain and Ski Guide at the age of 22. Since summer 2016 I have had the privilege of introducing you to the wonderful world of mountains.

Whether it's on my home mountains in Tyrol, the 4,000-meter peaks of the Alps, or in the mountains of the Himalayas, I will be happy to guide you!

First of all our guide was not Christoph Gaber, we had Stephan Kecks who was superb. A really nice guy. Second you should have warned us about the bad conditions before we booked. There was not possible to do any off-pist/freeride skiing in Mayrhofen due to the bad conditions (It was just rock hard ice).
