Join me on an unforgettable traverse of the Aonach Eagach Ridge, a Scottish classic! During this full-day adventure, you will be expertly guided every step of the way, so that you can explore it.
The Aonach Eagach Ridge in Scotland is located north of Glencoe, and stretches for approximately 10 kilometers, from the Pap of Glencoe to the Devil’s Staircase. The ridge also has two Munro summits: Meall Dearg and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. This makes traversing the ridge a thrilling and challenging adventure. In fact, the Aonach Eagach Ridge is considering the most difficult of all the ridges in the Scottish Highlands.
The most difficult part of the Aonach Eagach Ridge is in the central section. During this part of the ridge, which stretches for approximately 2 kilometers, the area is extremely rocky, and traversing it requires scrambling. However, despite the challenges, the views and the experience of making your way through it are unbelievably rewarding.
As a result of the challenging nature of the Aonach Eagach, participants on this trip should have prior scrambling experience on classic Scottish Routes in order to join. A good fitness level is also required.
So, are you looking for a real physical challenge in the Scottish Highlands? Then join me on this full-day traverse of the Aonach Eagach Ridge. I know you’ll have a fantastic and memorable experience.
Would you like to climb the Munros of Cuillin on the Isle of Skye? Then join me on this 4-day course.

We are a small guiding company based in Fort William, Scotland, at the foot of Ben Nevis. We specialize in tailor-made courses and guiding for individuals and small groups across the Scottish Highlands, focusing on quality and a personalised approach rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
Founded by Scott Kirkhope—an outdoor professional with 20 years’ experience—we evolved from his earlier venture, Kirkhope Mountaineering (est. 2016). Scott holds the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (WMCI) qualification, is a member and Development Officer of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, and is also a qualified mountain bike leader and coach.
We work with qualified and insured freelance guides, occasionally including trainees (with prior notice), and prioritise customer-focused, high-quality mountain adventures.
We also support the local Lochaber community through environmental and recreational initiatives, having contributed to local climbing, trail, wheeled sports, and conservation projects.

Scott was a fantastic guide. We (myself and my 17 year old son) felt 100% safe at all times. Unfortunately, due to the v high winds, we weren’t able to summit Ben Nevis - however, Scott ensured that we had a great day hiking & climbing around Ben Nevis. We will definitely return to summit Ben Nevis in the Winter - and we’ll definitely go with Scott as our guide.

The guide was Hannah in fact and she was the best, it was a great day and Hannah was brilliant.. I would never have chosen the Pap honestly speaking, however, Hannah did the review also asked a bunch of questions and watched how we did at the beginning so she was confident that it was the right hike for us, and it really was. Please give her a big thanks and to you also for a great experience, the break in the weather really helped as well
