  • Experience the beautiful backcountry of both Slovakia and Poland.
  • Get simple access to the heart of the Tatra Mountains.
  • Benefit from having a guide lead you through the Central Europe backcountry.

Description

Touring the Tatras via skiing is the best way to know this Central Europe mountain range, which is the highest among the Carpathian Mountains.

During the winter months when the temperatures dip, the clouds bring a great flurry of fresh snow that carpets the mountainside. Conditions are prime for fantastic off-piste skiing.

Whether you want to explore the High Tatras or the Western Tatras, there are plenty of options available across the mountainside. Current climate conditions and your level of ability and experience will modify the trip to customise it to you.

The Western Tatras offers an excellent range of options including challenging long traverses to short 1-day trips. We can visit both the Polish side and the Slovakian side. Poland is home to the picturesque Chocholowska Valley and the Kondratowa Valley, while Slovakian holds the beautiful valleys of Salatyn, Rohacka and Zarska.

The High Tatras is home to 29 peaks that rise above 2,500 meters as well as spectacular lakes. The Slovakian valleys of Mala and Velka Studena Dolina presents the possibility to reach steep cols and stunning summits. While the Gasienicowa Valley on the Polish side provides a sense of solitude, with the Dolina Pieciu Stawow, or Valley of 5 Lakes, providing an amazingly peaceful scenery.

Mountain Guide

I started my adventure with climbing in the early nineties. Through almost three decades, I have managed to reach hundreds of peaks and climb an uncountable numbers of routes all around the world. In Patagonia I climbed both Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy (and some more), I set up new routes in Karakoram climbing an unconquered peak there. I have enjoyed many climbs in Alaska, the Alps and the Dolomites, both in winter and summer. Still, the Polish Tatras hold a special place in my heart as these are the mountains that carved my climbing attitude and character. Winter is my favourite season there – wilderness and the alpine character of the mountains can deliver unforgettable experiences.

Mountain lovers can find a full variety of different challenges in Tatras – solemn granite peaks, demanding big-walls, interesting mixed-climbing, great off-piste areas and wild valleys waiting for ski touring fans. Although I have travelled the world in search of beautiful goals, I have been constantly coming back to fulfil my mountain passions in Tatras. And I am sure there is still so much more to be discovered there.

As an IFMGA guide and a seasoned climber, I invite you to discover mountains with me. Decades of exploration in that mountains have led me to who I am today – a professional mountain guide ready to share my mountain experience with you in Tatras or any other part of the mountain world.

Whether you want to climb a peak or ridge, ski off-piste or discover new places - I am here to help you make your dream come true. My point as a guide is to get you to safely fulfil your mountain dream. If you don’t have any yet – don’t worry, with my experience and your skills we will definitely find a suitable adventure for you!

I am an IFMGA/IVBV/UIAGM certified mountain guide and a member of Polish Association of High-mountain Guides.

We had a fantastic ski touring day with Jakub. The Tatras are fascinating mountains and at the same time a fairly severe environment and we felt comfortable doing this last -and more complicated- climb with the guide. We appreciated the fact that Jakub, besides being a great guide, is a real lover of these mountains and told us many things about this place and its history. We were also very happy with all the support of explore-share that really made all the steps easy. It is an experience that we certainly feel to recommend.
