Description

Situated at the northern end of the Front Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Longs Peak casts an imposing shadow over its surroundings.

Rising to 14,259 feet above sea level, Longs Peak is the northernmost 14er and the highest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is also one of the tallest mountains in Colorado that you can climb without needing any technical equipment of know-how.

Our adventure begins on the afternoon of the first day. We will meet up at the trailhead and begin hiking through alpine forest until we reach the tree line. Above this is the alpine tundra and after a bit more hiking, we will set up camp and try to turn in early.

The next morning, we will get an early start, continuing through the alpine tundra until we cross to the north side of the mountain. From here, we will enjoy our first truly spectacular views out over the rest of the Rockies.

We will then begin to make a non-technical ascent up to the summit, where we will enjoy 360-degree panoramic views out over the surroundings.

After enjoying our lunch at the summit, we will make our way back down and pack up the camp and return to the trailhead.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
