Description
Situated in the very north of the country, Rodnei Mountains National Park is the second largest park in Romania and a simply stunning place for a 2-day ski touring adventure!
In addition to its immense size, which means there is plenty of incredible backcountry terrain to explore, it is also one of the best preserved glacial landscapes in the country.
Over the course of our two days together, we’ll head out into the heart of this subrange of the Carpathian Mountains and traverse the various ridge lines, visiting some of the park’s famous calderas, and taking in all of the gorgeous mountain scenery at every turn.
In addition to the incredible scenery, the area has a lot of history. Our local and knowledgable guide will be able to tell you all about it while we’re out on the slopes as well as relaxing back at the lodge.

Equipment list: Complete equipment for lap skis (lap tie skis, lap boots, sealskin, adjustable sticks) Suits suitable for walking on the mountain in winter (synthetic or woolen clothing, fleece jacket, waterproof and panataloni raincoat, fleece jacket , two hats, two pairs of gloves) Touring backpack maximum 30 liters on which you can catch the skis and the pole. Still buzzing from my journey to the peak of moldeaveanu!, our journey was paced really well with lucian, who is a knowledgeable and generous human. It all felt like such a genuine and local experience that was off the tourist map ,an absolute gem. the 2 day trek ended with us descending into the most beautiful Forrest iv ever seen, foraging wild berries next to a running stream with donkeys passing through, There’s so much more to tell I’m not great with words , but I would recommend this too anyone do it!
