Description
From the North Wessex Downs to the Chiltern Hills, this run takes you through some of the most beautiful and historic parts of England.
The run starts about 150km west of london in Avebury, Wilshire. A charming village and the site of ancient and wondrous stone megaliths that scatter the landscape.
You will cover 140km (87-miles) on the Ridgeway National Trail and finish at Ivinghoe Beacon in the pretty Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire.
Feel the history as you repeat steps that have been taken for over 5,000 years. All number of peoples have traversed this path before; Romans, Vikings, Normans, Saxons Celts etc.
You will see the remnants of prehistoric settlements, beautiful nature all around you and bask in the views overlooking the Thames river and surrounding areas. You will run next to the river, through woodlands, valleys and more.
This condensed two-day run doesn’t present many ascents or steep climbs compared to other trails but to cover 140km in two days is highly strenuous and requires a very high level of fitness.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
