Description

This winter trek to Mount Toubkal offers a thrilling ascent and spectacular views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in Morroco. So, come join us on this 3-day adventure of a lifetime!

Located in the Toubkal National Park, Mount Toubkal (4,167 m) is the highest peak of not just Morocco but the whole of North Africa. It lies 63 km from the popular city of Marrakesh and definitely finds its place on the list of many mountain climbers.

Typically, the peak can be climbed in 2 days, however, since we’ll be hiking on snow in the winter and would be using crampons and ice axes, it is best to take it slow and finish the trek in 3 days.

We’ll begin the journey in Marrakech and drive you to the beautiful village of Imlil to begin the trek. From here, you’ll hike to Toubkal Refuge, passing via beautiful Morrocan villages and stay overnight.

The next day will take you to the summit of the highest peak of Morocco. And what a feeling it would be! Jaw-dropping vistas of the African desert and the iconic Atlas range will spread out in front of your eyes. After, relishing our time here, we’ll get back to the refuge and then head back to Marrakech on the final day, ending this fantastic trip.

This is a rough itinerary and in case you wish to make any changes, do not hesitate to let us know. Our local guides Brahim and Mohamed will ensure you have an wonderful time throughout.

And if you have some extra time on hand, we can also club the Toubkal Trek with another trip to spend some more days in the Sahara.

Regarding difficulty, remember that it is a challenging trek that requires you to have a fit body and a firm determination. Also, since we’ll be hiking on snow and ice, previous climbing experience would definitely come in handy.

So, if this amazing trek to the highest peak of North Africa interests you, send a message now to reserve your seat. It will be an unforgettable experience, we assure you! Also, check out this easy day-hike to the Berber Villages in Morocco here.

Our trip to the Atlas Mountains & summit of Toubkal was one of the best experiences of my partner and I’s lives. Mohammad the organiser was friendly, helpful and made us feel safe and at home. Jamal our guide was amazing. He ensured we made it to the top of the mountain whilst explaining local culture and history. We formed a strong bond and I was very sad to be leaving. As the weather was good and we made the summit and back in 2 days we had time to mountain bike through the valley for the third day, again with Jamal showing us the ropes and treating us to fresh mint tea. A truly unforgettable trip and we will certainly be back when we can. Thank you Mohammad, Jamal and the beautiful village of Imlil and it’s surroundings.

Abdul was a fantastic guide and made the journey very enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable about the area and made sure to keep a pace which was challenging but doable for all participants. Mohamed was an excellent cook as well and I always looked forward to his meals. The area was beautiful and the climb to Mt. Toubkal is certainly unforgettable. I'm very glad I choose this tour, especially at this price.
