Description

We’ll take you on yet another via ferrata adventure to the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4095 m) and Low’s Peak circuit in Malaysia.

Located in Sabah, Kinabalu is the highest peak of the Crocker Range in Borneo and is popular among climbers. Although a little daunting to traverse- the via ferrate to the summit will also be packed with lots of thrill. And of course, you will get to see some stunning views which a traditional hike does not provide.

We’ll begin from your hotel lobby in Kona Kinabula and drive you to Kinabalu Park.  After the necessary paperwork, we’ll drive you through scenic roads to get to the starting point of the trek.

From there, a good hike of about  4 hours takes us to Pendant hut. The trip includes a mandatory via ferrata familiarization training because we take your safety seriously. We’ll also introduce you to rappelling or sports climbing before attempting the summit so that you are well prepared.

You will spend the initial 2 days hiking, acclimatizing and enjoying the therapeutic mountain views.

The summit hike will take place on the third day. Starting early at about 1. 30 AM, we’ll set out on our journey to the top. Equipped with nothing but our torchlight, we’ll climb for a good 3 hours to reach the summit just in time to see a spectacular sunrise.

Thereafter, you’ll experience the much-awaited via ferrate for about 4-5 hours. It will be both exciting and daunting to traverse the route, and will be definitely worth it!

The last day will serve as a backup day just in case you could not make it to the summit the previous day. Otherwise, you’ll descend to Timpohon Gate, collect your certificate and head back to your hotel, taking back unforgettable memories with you.

So, if this trip interests you, send a message now to reserve your seat. We’ll be happy to guide you. Also, check out our shorter trip to Kinabalu here.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
