Description

The highest peak of Crocker Range in Borneo,  Mount Kinabalu stands at a staggering 4095 m and is definitely worth exploring. Join us as we take you to the summit of Kinabalu where you’ll stay in the cozy Pendant Hut and experience the thrill of via ferrata for 3 days.

The route offers stunning views as you’ll cross the via ferrata which you might miss otherwise.

We’ll begin by picking you up from your hotel in Kona Kinabula at 6. 30 am and take you to Kinabalu Park.  Post-registration, we’ll continue to get to the starting point of the trek and begin the climb.

A good climb of about  4 hours takes us to Pendant Hut in Sabah. There is a mandatory via ferrata familiarization training here at 3.30 pm to prepare you well the coming day, so make sure you don’t miss it.

The following day takes us through many adventures. We’ll start early at 1. 30 AM, and set out towards the summit in our torchlight. Ascending gradually, we’ll climb for about 3 hours to get to the summit to see a stunning sunrise.

After relishing some time here, you’ll begin to descend from Low’s Peak at 6.00 AM and meet your via ferrata trainer at 7.15 AM to begin your adventure! The next two hours will be spent traversing the via ferrata. Thereafter, you’ll descend to Pendant Hut for breakfast and spend the rest of the day relaxing and recuperating from the long day, alongside enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery. After dinner at Laban Rata’s canteen, you’ll doze off in Pendant hut.

The last day will serve as a backup day just in case you could not make it to the summit the previous day. Otherwise, you’ll descend to Timpohon Gate, collect your certificate and head back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, taking back beautiful memories with you.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
