With 4,061 meters in height, Gran Paradiso is a very popular peak in the Alps situated between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. It belongs to the Gran Paradiso National Park, a wonderful area to enjoy skiing and splitboarding activities.
The starting point of our 5-day tour will be Cogne, a little village located in the Aosta Valley. While splitboarding, you will marvel at the astonishing scenery of the Italian Alps. I will also guide you from hut to hut so you not only explore different mountains and glaciers, but also taste the most exquisite Italian food. If weather allows, we’ll even have the possibility to reach the Gran Paradiso summit and descend snowboarding.
For more details of the itinerary, please take a look at the bottom of the page. I can also plan a shorter program if you wish!
Finally, remember that it is important to have prior splitboarding experience and a very good physical condition to join this trip.

During the first day, we’ll go from Cogne to our first hut, Vittorio Sella (2,584 meters). We’ll use our splitboard to go through stunning woods and open slopes.
Early in the morning, we’ll go to the Gran Serra (3,552 m) and reach its summit. Then, we’ll enjoy splitboarding in the Gran Neyron glacier and head to the Col del Gran Neyron. From the Col, we’ll descend to the Chabod Refuge (2,750 m). On this day, we’ll spend 7-8 hours outside.
We’ll leave the Chabod Refuge and go through the Schiena d’Asino of Gran Paradiso, at 3,700 meters of altitude. According to the weather conditions, we can reach the summit of the mountain or descend directly to Vittorio Emanuele II hut (2,775 m).
On this day, we’ll ascent the Col del Gran Paradiso (3,345 meters) through the Montcorve Glacier. From here, we’ll descend across the Vallone di Noaschetta to Ivrea Bivouac (2,770 m). Then, we’ll go to the Colle dei Becchi (2,990 m) and use our splitboard until the Pontese Refuge (2,200 m).
On our last day, we’ll go to the Colle del Teleccio (3,304 m) and descend through Valeille until we reach Cogne (1,615 m).

Mountain Guide
I am a young Italian UIAGM - UVGAM guide and I live the mountain in all its aspects.
I love being in the mountains during every period of the year and I think each season is special and give us the possibility to discover a different side of the mountain: freeride skiing and ice climbing in winter, ski touring and ice/mixed routes in spring, rock climbing and trekking/alpinism in summer and autumn. Each experience lived in the mountain is unique and for me it is a real pleasure to help and assist people living something that sometimes is almost like a dream.
I speak fluently Italian, English, French and Spanish.
I live in Valtournenche, in the Matterhorn valley, and work with a well consolidated group of UIAGM mountain guides, so we can provide the professional support needed even in case of big groups of people: by contacting me you will always find a solution for your trip in the mountains!
